Aaaaah why oh why does this happen? I've been waxing long enough this shouldn't happen anymore. I used talc beforehand held the skin tight and still a bruise. I feel like giving up.

Does this happen to anyone else? even after years of waxing?

Thanks in advance. Any advice would be much appreciated :)

i am very new to waxing but when i did my training they said if you are waxing over a bump (ie the knee or a ligament) then its likely to bruise

Is there a specific area you mean.

Upper thigh, Skin was very loose, I stretched, but perhaps not enough. I've had maybe 2 bruises in this area in the 5 years i've been waxing. This shouldn't happen now, right? Am I being too hard on myself?

Thanks for your replies

Well i would say you have just been unlucky and not to worry, 2 in 5 years is nothing serious.Like you say its down to the loose skin and maybe you should have worked in smaller patches so you could have supported the area better.

To be honest I felt leaving the bruise made me feel unprofessional, and I flustered, then I guess it made me look unprofessional aaaaahhh

If anyone does bruise, how do you deal with the situation? without flustering :o

I think you are spot on. I'm going to work in smaller patches from now on. Thank you for your advice.

i bruise very very easily, i only get my legs andunderam waxed as am almost guranteed to bruise. maybe your person has skin that bruises easily, are they on any medication ? or as has already been mentioned, smaller patches might help?

If you are not already using it, my advice to you would be to use one of the new generation hard (hot) waxes and when used with a little oil on the skin as a barrier. Hold the skin held nice and tight, then brusing should soon become a thing of the past.

They are on medication (quite alot), i'm going to look into what they are taking as this may be another factor. Thanks.

I use hot wax for brazilians and bikini, but this was the thigh. I'm thinking it may be wise to use this on that area as well just for this client.

If you've only bruised a client twice in 5 years, then it isn't your technique, so don't be so hard on yourself. Some people just bruise and that's that.

If you're using strip wax, make sure it's as thin as can be and remove in small pieces and make sure that your strip isn't loaded with wax. Also, stretch the area from both sides using your thumb and finger.

Always apply oil and use non strip wax (hot) if you can. xxx

On really wobbily large thighs I get the client to hold the skin taught too, this may be of use to you.

Thanks for all your replies
