Been trying to DIY wax my underarms but having problems

I followed the instructions on the wax strips; they are the ones you rub in your hand to warm up and then peal apart the two strips and you can use both sides to wax with.

Problem one - I find after two attempts the wax strips only remove about 20% of the hair, why can’t I get the strips to pull out more like 99% of the hairs?

Problem two - the strips seam to damage my skin and I think take the top layer off so I’m left with flaky skin (a bit like a scab) I know it's horrible

Problem three - finding it hard to place the strips on properly with the arm in question held up high in the effort to keep the skin taught, using the other hand placing the strip on without getting it stuck in the wrong place. I did it by bending the strip round and placing the middle part in the middle of the area and then letting go so the two sides fall down onto the skin. Any other method and the strip get stuck in the wrong position or place. It’s really a two hand job.

ARGH!!!!! NIGHTMARE!!!!

Thanks lovely ladies

Not sure if you have any beauty training but I would pay a few pounds and have them waxed in a salon...

There are ways in which the skin needs to be prepared & stretched....xx

My only advice I can offer you is to get your underarms waxed by a professional waxing technician. Underarms are very tricky places to wax yourself, even very experienced waxers. You will end up very sore and for the small cost of seeing a beautician to do it for you, it surely can't be worth it. I bet the cost of the strips is more than an underarm service at a salon in any case.

Throw the strips in the bin before you really hurt yourself ...

JMO!

Yeah ....gotta agree with the girls. When I try to wax my underarms, I always wish afterwards that I hadn't.

If you can't afford to go to a salon, get a mate to do it. It's not something that's easy done by yourself as you need to stretch the skin. xxx

I must admit I wouldnt use those ready made waxing strips on anything as they are not very efficient, leave a sticky film and are practically useless.

If you are not a therapist, find a salon near you that can offer this with the appropriate wax, otherwise if you are a therapist use your favourite wax, I have done it many times and never had any pain, bruises or problems with the wax I am using.

Why not spend for better products, instant waxing strips does not do the right work, I can testify, and it leaves that repulsive sticky film making your skin surface rough and sticky. Also, why not visit the waxing tech or skin professionals even a salon treatment might give that service you so desperately impose unto yourself. No offense, just leave it to the profs, though it costs its worthed. Nohing great or wonderful in this world is cheap. God Bless:lol:

Years ago when I was doing my training I asked my hubby to buy me some wax strips for xmas(I know....bit odd but!!!!)anyway he had bought me those nasty DIY wax strips.
I tried to smile and be appreciative so I had a go and OMG they are awful and a total waste of time.I will try to explain why to someone not experienced in waxing.
The hair under the arm(and other places)grows in different directions, like a guinea pigs hair. When we wax we apply in the direction of the hair.So this means we have to apply several applications of wax ,we apply the wax in one direction, wax off, then apply another, wax off...and on and on til all removed.
With a DIY wax strip it has the wax inpregnated onto it,which means once adhered to the skin you have to rip off regardless of how many different directions the hair is growing, hence why you have so many hairs left behind after removing the strip.
It is NOT possible to remove all hairs with a DIY strip unless all of your hairs are growing in the SAME direction.I hope this is informative enough and may I suggest in the nicest politest way that you have a professional do it for you.Good luck.

I am beauty trained and even I find it a job to wax my underarms myself. Theres just no way you can get the skin tight enough so you will rip off skin and get a scab.
Go to a salon hun. It's much easier and is going to take 10 mins as opposed to you faffing around and taking forever and damaging your skin xxx
