I had a mother and daughter come in the other day for eyebrow wax's. The daughter is turning 15 next month. I said to the mother that she needed to sign the consultation form etc.....She asked me if her daughter could come in on her own in future now she has signed the form. What are other people's views on this? Would you ask that the mother was present until her daughter is 16? Also she asked about having Calgel on her nails.....has anyone done Calgel on an under 16yr old?
Thanks x

I suggest you check with your insurance company. They will have certain guidelines on treating under 16's and should be able to tell you how to approach this.

I'm insured with the Guild (so I hope what I do is right:eek:) but I ensure that the parent is present for any treatment on someone under 16 and that they sign the consent form. So far I haven't had any parent (or child) for whom that has been a problem, they're all nmore than happy to stay. And of course you can then link sell treatments to the mum whilst they're waiting! :green:

I would check with your insurer's to see if it's ok to wax her anyway. I would insist that the mum came along until she's 16. You don't want to be accused of anything. xxx

Thanks all, think i'll tell her she has to come when the daughter is in. Cover my back!

Totally agree with Kim

I would insist on parent or responsible adult (could be older sister) accompanies an under 16 year old.
I only do teen facials on under 16's .
meriden

The teen market is something I have just been looking into so this was a great post to read and take on the views of everybody, I have set myself an age limit for waxing and I will alway insist on a parent coming with an under 16.

Take care hun x

Hi Sassy

I was in a similar situation, you need to check with your insurance company, they have guidelines on how you record the treatment, whether parent need to be present in the treatment room, etc.
