i had them when i was pregnant he is fine :)

thanks gonna try it lol. were did u do ur tranin?

Hey, I worked full time doing nails (gel and acrylic) till I was 8 months pregnant, the doctor told me it was fine as there are no links between nail chemicals and fetal problems. Make sure you are following all the rules for avoiding overexposure and you and bub will be healthy. Congrats

Any type of branded enhancement material is safe to both wear and work with while pregnant.

You won't be exposed to any fumes because our products do not emit FUMES .. the smell of the vapour may not appeal while pregnant but that can be true of any smells when pregnant.

Follow manufacturers' guidelines as has been advised .. which we should be doing all the time anyway. Congratulations and work safely. Gazillions of nail techs works safely right up to the last minute during their pregnancies.

It depends what system you are using and what kind of gel it is (one component, 2 component, 3 component, soak off, buff off etc.) I would have thought your training notes would explain the procedure to you. Your profile does n ot indicate that you have had any training at all ... how about filling it in with more detail so we can help more accurately?

filled it in
OK thank you.
Your procedure looks normal for that product but if you are interested, as you say, in carrying out good lasting treatments for your clients, I would invest in a better brand of gel and better education from the company that provides the gel you choose.

Also ... there is no odour/vapours with gel.

Actually that is not correct ... there is plenty of vapour when you use gel products, you just cannot smell it as acutely. They are there just the same which is why manufacturers also recommend extraction ventilation when using gel ,... just the same.

Well I never....I thought dust was the only concern with gel, I dont see how a gel and a liquid can release the same amount of vapour I shall have to spend my sunday afternoon reading now as I must have totally missed that one :irked:

I didn't mean to imply the amount of vapour is the same as L&P ... I didn't say that ... and that is a good question for Doug to answer at the EVENT ... when I said 'just the same' I was referring to the precautions we have to take . the same ones for L&P as for gel and supposedly odourless monomers.

It only take 5 miniscule parts per million in air for one to be able to smell monomer which evaporates quickly from the liquid-- odourless monomers also produce vapour and just because you can't smell it as much does not mean it isn't there ... the difference with gel is that the esters that create the smell with monomer are trapped in the gel and evaporation is much slower so you dont smell the vapours in the same way but they are still there too.
