Could anyone let me know if they have used both Proimpressions Advance and CND Performance well less white tips. I have Proimpressions but find on small nail plates the smile line is quite deep (especially on small nail plates where the 'ears' go far down on the nail). Do the CND performance tips have the same deep smile. I have not used well less tips before and not sure if this is how they are suppose to be.

Hi,

if you are trying to do white tips on small nail beds, you should try doing a custom blend. Making the nails look longer will make the french look more appealing to the eye and more balanced.

hth x x

if you are finding the 'ears' to long then this is because the nail beds you are using them on are too short for this type of tip.
i have used both pro impressions and cnd and i love them both.i have some pics in my album of a client that is a nail biter i used whites tips on and elongated her nail beds by only sticking the 'ears' to the nail so you could see the egde of her nail and the tip of her finger and then filled this with an opaque powder to give the illusion she has long nail beds.i didnt do this with cnd or pro impressions tips though as the smile lines arent always deep enough to be able to elongate the nail beds enough.i used some by star nails.x
the last 2 pics in my album were done using the same method but with a better colour powder.

If I was to tip and the white tip did not suit the nail, I would "pre-tailor" the tip.
How: Pre-tailor the smile line of the tip by filing down at 45 degree angle (adjusting angle to suit the desired smile line you are wishing to achieve), buff the tip to bevel and smooth the edges and then adhere.

I agree, why would you need to buy yet another tip when you can easily adjust the smile line of the tips you are using to compliment the nails you are doing?

Personally I just use a pair of curved scissors and nip off the ears of the smile to make it look more natural on a short nail bed. Easy and quick.

There is nothing that looks worse than a deep smile on a short nail bed; and it is so easy to adjust the tip.

I like the curved scissors idea, never thought of that one. Thank you Gigi.

I was wondering how to overcome a deep c curve on a short nail bed,and after searching you provided the answer...again...lol:lol:

When are You going to do a Nailclass two, or the book of secrets Gigi?

Maybe you could have guest stars from nailgeek sharing secrets aswell (I know so many I would like to see in one book):green::green::green::green:

Sorry for hijacking this tread to promote personal wishes though:hug:

Thanks for the tips and photos Tracey they were really helpful and the nails look lovely. I will give this a try but could you let me know if you placed the opaque over the white tip or did you use white/clear?

I have just bought a pair of curved scissors and I will try pretailoring my well less white tips using them. I have tried before using the method of filing the tip at a 45 degree angle but could never get a consistent smile line. Will let you know how I get on as my collection of tips is growing lol.
