Do you all use different sites for different things? Does anyone get anything out of the likes of Twitter? (I use it ~ don't understand it! have 3000 followers, none that will lead to business).

What about the obvious like facebook, bebo, myspace? I don't use them anymore for social networking but I do use them to get clients and its really affective.

What other beauty sites do you visit? theres tons, salon gold, guilds, babtac.com, healthypages.com, salontweet.com just to name a few?

I use Twitter - but not much suppose its more for clicks though to boost websites.

I use facebook for getting clients

And here for finding out about things thats are happening.

what about you?

I use facebook, healthypages and allaboutbeauty.

i'm on facebook for personal networking and promoting my nail business and my handmade jewellery, its great for keeping people up to date, and i'd never heard of salontweet until i read this message but i think i'll join to see what its like x

Yeh I get lots of business through facebook I have made an album of my nails and where it says "who can view this album" I clicked everyone! x

im on facebook and use that loads, im thinking of updating my bebo to use to let people know what I do. I registered on twitter this morning but I dont actually understand how to make it work x

twitter is for your clients to follow you and then you list hints, tips and offers on there. However I have over 3000 people following me and I doubt any of them want a spray tan!! You can search for people local to you, but again its sooooo hit and miss. What I wonder is does anyone actually read every twitter?

I just see it as a bunch of people all writing their thoughts down but no one reads them! So nope dont understand it myself!

I'm registered on Twitter aswell but don't really get it.
Im following a few people but don't know how to interact with them or how to make it work in my favour!
Can anyone help or shed some light?

What I am to understand is that if you follow them you see their updates but they will not see yours unless there following you. So if people follow you, then when you do an update they get to see it.

Some people follow you back automatically while others don't.

You can only follow so many people unless you have so many following you.

if you look at the bottom of twitter theres a detailed search engine so you can search for people within a certain radius of your postcode, then you click to follow them and hope they follow you.

When you have them following you you simpy keep sending updates of your website or special offers.

I think chances are that with so many people following as many people as they can the chances of them noticing your status updates are slim.

I wonder if its worked for anyone?

Does anyone use youtube to get business from?

I just read it has more hits than yahoo and msn combined and they now show actively in search engines.

I was thinking of doing this but wondered if you had any success from it?

I guess whatever site you use to network will keep bringing you up on google though wont it...or is that just the logic of lee??!!:green:

Apparently it depends on metatags or something but yes the more the merrier lol! I think I have pimped myself out on everything!

The Youtube thing though intrigues me but I havent the foggiest of how to actually upload videos on there. They dont work off my camera so I am stumped! technology is easy providing I get talked through it in simple steps - when it gets tough I get going lol! (or the computer gets shouted at!!)

Can anyone tell me how you promote your business on facebook? Do you need to open a separate account? I only ask because I dont really want potential clients looking at my facebook page as I have a couple of friends with very 'colourful' language that insist on constantly updating their status with it!!:) So would these clients see all that or will they be directed to a different page? xXx

I tried Twitter yesterday it makes no sense to me at all I was being followed and I was following them .... its all very weird...

I am a facebook addict and all I have is a link to my website not sure i would work my business from my personal facebook due to having lots of pics and not really wanting the world to see them all...how do you go about setting up a business facebook???

Thanks

I just opened a new account as my personal facebook page has personal things on there! Although I think if you create a group you can change your status of your personal page to block anyone seeing it unless they add you as a friend.

But better safe than sorry, open a new account.

Twitter I doubt will stand the test of time it all seems pointless to many people! x

I use Healthypages for holistics stuff which is fab and I also use The Wax Queen's Royal Message Board (that's Lori Nestore's forum) for all things waxing which is also fantastic.
