this is mine:

colours of day
dawn into the mind
the sun has come up
the night is behind
go down in the city
into the street
and lets give our message to the people we meet

chorus
so light up a fire
and let the flame burn
open your heart
let Jesus return
take seeds of our spirit
let the fruit grow
tell the people of Jesus let his love show

Go throught the park on into the town
the sun still shines on it neve goes down
the light of the world is risen againthe people of darkness are needing a friend

chorus

open your eyes look into the sky
the darkness has come the sun came to die
the evening draws on the sun disappears
but Jesus is living and his Spirit is near

chorus

CAN'T REMEMBER EXACTLY, BUT MINE WAS SUMMAT ABOUT JESUS AND THE DEVIL.... ER.... I REALLY CAN'T REMEMBER BUT IT WAS MY FAVOURITE SONG!! THIS IS GUNA BUG ME ALL DAY NOW!

Eugh, couldn't stand singing hymns! I didn't like them and I'm not religious at all.

Struggle through hymns at friends weddings but do it for them.

i am completely non-religious
but i loved signing at school
esp the happy cheerful songs
made me happy
not that colors of day is very cheery mind but it used to make my spine shiver when i heard it

IM NOT RELIGIOUS EITHER, BUT WE HAD TO SING THEM IN ASSEMBLEY AT SCHOOL! AH, MEMORIES!

been asking the same question on another site:

autumn days when the grass is jewelled
and the silk inside a chestnut shell
jetplanes meeting in the air to be re-fuelled
all these thing i love so well
so i musnt forget
no i musnt forget
to say a great big thankyou
i musnt forget

cant remember the next verse

***
When a knight won his spurs, in the stories of old,
He was gentle and brave, he was gallant and bold;
With a shield on his arm and a lance in his hand
For God and for valour he rode through the land.

No charger have I, and no sword by my side,
Yet still to adventure and battle I ride,
Though back into storyland giants have fled,
And the knights are no more and the dragons are dead.

Let faith be my shield and let joy be my steed
'Gainst the dragons of anger, the ogres of greed;
And let me set free, with the sword of my youth,
From the castle of darkness the power of the truth.

Not sure of the title....

The page is white the ink is black
together we learn to read and write
to read and write

my daughter came home other day singing

i have seen the morning sunshine
i have watched the flowers grow
i have listened to the bluebirds
and theres one thing now i know
they were all put there
for us to share
by someone so divine
and if your a friend of jesus
(clap clap clap clap)
your a friend of mine

ive seen the light
ive seen the light
and thats why my heart sings
ive known the joy
ive known the joy
that loving jesus brings

but i can never remember the bloody next verses!!!!!!!!

I can remember singing this one - still a favourite of mine although I am not a church goer.

"The Old Rugged Cross"

On a hill far away, stood an old rugged Cross
The emblem of suff'ring and shame
And I love that old Cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain

So I'll cherish the old rugged Cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown

Oh, that old rugged Cross so despised by the world
Has a wondrous attraction for me
For the dear Lamb of God, left his Glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary

So I'll cherish the old rugged Cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown

In the old rugged Cross, stain'd with blood so divine
A wondrous beauty I see
For the dear Lamb of God, left his Glory above
To pardon and sanctify me

So I'll cherish the old rugged Cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown

To the old rugged Cross, I will ever be true
Its shame and reproach gladly bear
Then He'll call me some day to my home far away
Where his glory forever I'll share

So I'll cherish the old rugged Cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown

I'VE REMEMBERED IT! THE CHORUS GOES

'DON'T DO IT, DON'T GIVE IN,
DON'T DO IT, DON'T GIVE IN,'
DA DA DA DA DA.....
JUST SEND HIM BACK TO HELL AGAIN'

OR SUMAT ALONG THEM LINES!!!

MAKES SENSE IN MY HEAD! :irked:

And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. Exodus 3:14 [KJV]

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:5 [KJV]

This brings back mixed memories as it was one of our secondary school's songs that we had to sing every year at founders day!

Was it "lord of the dance"

Its hard to dance with the devil on your back
They whipped and they stripped and hung me to die
but i am the life that'll never ever die

Dance then whereever you may be i am the laord of the dance said he

Has I was a walking one morning in spring I met with some travellers in an old country lane,
One was a old man the other a dame and one was a young boy who sang as he said,
With the wind in the willows and birds in the sky there's a bright sun to warm us where ever we lie,
And we have bread and fishes and a jug of red wine to share on are jorney with all of mankind.

Still brings a lump to me throat

we plough the fields and scatter the good seed on the land

and it is fed and watered by gods almighty hand.......
la la la la la....a lalala
ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGhhh cant remember!!

what a cool thread Christ is being exalted on the nail geek site.

For all of you who don't know already I'am a born again believer in Jesus Christ and totally sold out to him

I don't know why but I love this song
IF I WERE A BUTTERFLY

IF I WERE A BUTTERLFLY
I'D THANK YOU LORD FOR GIVING ME WINGS
AND I I WERE A ROBIN IN A TREE
I'D THANK YOU LORD THAT I COULD SING
AND IF I WERE A WIGGLY WORM
I'D WIGGLE MY TAIL AND I'D GIGGLE WITH GLEE

BUT I JUST THANK YOU FATHER FOR MAKING ME ME
BECAUSE YOU GAVE ME A HEART AND YOU GAVE ME A SMILE
YOU GAVE ME JESUS
AND YOU MADE ME YOUR CHILD
AND I JUST THANK YOU FATHER FOR MAKING ME ME!!!!

CHEMZ NAILZ

Oh And .............
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me,
Let there be peace on earth t'was how it was mean't to be,
To live each moment and love each moment on earth eternally,
So let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.

Oh and ............
Do not be afraid for I have redeemed you,
I have called you by your name you are mine.

Wow this is weird!

i remember water of life from primary school!

water, water of life
jesus gives us the water of life etc etc.

i used to love this one (not sure if anyone else will know this)
we shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace.
and the mountains and the hills shall break out before you
there'll be shouts of joy and the trees and the fields shall clap shall clap their hands.
we used to have a cool piano teacher who was really funny and he used to play it faster and faster. as an 8 year old i thought this was cool!

and i used to like shalom!
shalom shalom, may peace be with you
throughout your days.
in all that u do, may peace be with you
shalom shalom.

this is very nostalgic!

jesus gives us the water of life!

i remember this one!!

wish i could remember all the songs we used to sing

my daughter (aged 4) goes to same school as i used to and shes starting to learn some and comes in singing them but it drives us both mad when we cant remember the next verses!! cant wait for her to learn more

she also sings really funky christmas songs at her school too, for her xmas concert. they dont do little donkey and other popular ones that I sang when i was at school and quite frankly get sick of hearing, they have such a funky set- i couldnt stop singing them for a month!!!

lol
any more hymns then?
