I do spray tanning, so I know that antibiotics can affect the tan.

I have been taking antibiotics and have stopped using them this morning.
Trust me to forget, but I got my friend to spray tan me today and of course, it didn't go on well so I left it.

I need to have a spray tan tommorow evening as it's my Birthday on Sat. Do you think the antibiotics would have come out of my system by tomorrow eveing as I'm desperate, and don't want to be using a tan out of the bottle as they never look as good:!:

Ideally you shouldn't tan for 4 weeks after finishing a course of topical or oral antibiotics. They can stay in the system for quite a while!

Oh bugger!!! I hate to say it, but I'm gonna have to resort to a home product and see if that works, any recommendation on one that isn't orange??? XX

I didn't realise you shouldn't spray tan someone when they are taking anti-biotics!!! I don't remember being told this in my training, will have to remember that!

me neither, beside I had it done many times while on antibiotics, and soon after. It was fine.

I think it is more down to the antibiotics giving you a change in your hormones rather than the antibiotics themselves,
if you are having problems with the out come of a spray tan then you will have the same problems with a tan out the bottle (I'm guessing you mean an over the counter tan) they all contain DHA which is the ingredient that gives you the colour,
is your friend a spray tanner or just a helpful friend, as this could be part of the problem too, hth

Certain Anti Biotics can alter the skins PH thus creating day glo orange effects!

I advise to wait 7 days after a course prior to spray tanning but in mpst cases a small patch on the leg or back may help you see what effect the tan will have in any at all.

As with any medication, hormone change its unpredictable and we cannot forsee the outcome.

Therefore the common ones we are aware can cause problems then patch test them. Although every new client should be.

Then take note of other medication in case there tan turns funny so you are able to pinpont why.

I remember years ago we also used to note the clients cycle, so we could pinpoint differences with the treatment.

I'm on antibiotics and had xen tan spray on me, came out just perfect :D

Using wash off tan wouldnt give a bad reaction as is doesnt have any DHA in it which would react with your skin in a spray tan...rimmel sun shimmer is really good when applied with a tanning mitt! x
