Hi, Ive recently opened a small salon and do alot of various treatments apart from nail extensions. So far had to turn quite a few people away.

Nails have never really been my thing but i do need to do them if thats what my clients are wanting otherwise they will go to the next person who does.

I have been trained in gel nails but thats over 6 years ago at college. Im wondering which are better gels acrylics or anything else? Ive heard mixed things about both....? Also i have been looking at training courses and its so expensive can anyone reccommend... i live in cheshire.

Thanks :)

What I would say here is it doesn't sound as though nail enhancements are a treatment that you particularly want to do and this is purely a business decision to do them. There is nothing wrong with that, but from experience nails in a salon is a fulltime job and you do need to enjoy it and be dedicated to it, otherwise it could be a bit stresssful!

Is it possible for you to rent out space to an experienced nail technician and have either a percentage of her income or a set rent from her every week, then both you and your clients would be happy

Regarding your question about what system.....here is an article which will give you a lot of information about the systems, and you could see what one would suit you if this is the route you choose to go down.

Once you have decided on what system you want to use then you have the even bigger decision of what training provider to go to!!
Plenty advice on this site regarding that too though.

Good Luck.

If nails are not your thing then don't even go there.

Nails are for specialists and not an add on service to beauty in my opinion.

I've known too many therapists who just can't bear to pass on the business to a specialist. So silly as well as short sighted.

Pass it on and in return get them to pass beauty clients to YOU. A much happier arrangement IMO.

Can you rent out a space in your salon for an already qualified tech.
