I set up my own business 6 months a go... i had a client from a local salon who had Calgel nails on...i also use Calgel... her nails were thick and discoloured so therefore soaked them off she mentioned at the time she had a burning sensation n her fingers after she had a regular maintaince it was happening before she came to me. some of her nails had little white marks on them i advised her to go to her doctors...she went to her doctors who prescribed her anti histamines. Im confused is this an infection ? the lady them told me she was having a break from her nails then a week later said she was going back to her old salon as she said that she had no problems there !! which was a lie cause she had an infection from the olad salon as so i thought...is this an infection or a client being awkward?

A doctor wouldn't prescribe anti-histamines for an infection, he would prescribe anti-biotics to fight the infection. Anti-histamines are usually prescribed for allergies etc.

Did you use acetone to remove her overlays or product remover?
The white marks are most probably pseudo leukonychia, this occurs when the nails have been stripped of their natural oils, the marks should disappear within a few hours. This can also happen to clients who remove nail enamel too frequently too.

i was just confused as she mentioned this burning sensation on her fingers after a maintaince she also said which i forgot to mention that the doctor said itt was from buffing the nail i just find it really upset me as she mentioned that the old salon was better but she told me she had this reaction before she came to me xxx

i used acetone to remove her overlays it did take ages as they were so so thick xx

She shouldn't have felt a burning sensation after her appointment, if she would have had any uncomfortable sensation at all I would have thought it would have been either during soak off with the solution penetrating a cut she could have had... during filing/buffing if you weren't careful... or due to exothermic reaction (heat spike) during the curing process if she had thin nails and/or the gel was applied too thickly.

If she had the reaction when she was at the other salon then I would safely say that it's nothing that you've done.
