heres a question im really curious to kno as a newbie nail tech....

who uses white tip to do acrylics, and who builds the white?
which way do u think is better and why?

im asking cos despite what iv learnt from CND, iv spoken to a few therapists who have trained with CND but end up just using tips and a clear powder, iv been trained to believe using white tips is not the best way, but dont want to be naive to other methods etc:lol:

You have to find what works for you. I am not a l/p person, don't like it, don't like working with it, don't like the smell, etc. (need I go on ) so I use white tips. If for some reason I have a client with short nail beds I will use a paint on white under the product, looks great. I know some think this makes me a less than nail tech, but the end result is what matters to me and my clients. I'm all about being effecient because that is what makes you money and the clients will love you for not taking forever. I'm amazed when I hear experienced nail techs taking two hours or more to do a set of nails. How can you make any money that way? Takes me 45 mins to an hour to do a new set. Time is money in our business. This is just my preference and opinion and I am in no way purposely wanting to offend anyone!

Hi
i always build my white as i think the finish is much better plus you can adapt the smile line to suit, such as extending nail bed or going deeper if i want to.

Plus the nails dont look different when i re-white.

thats a really good answer lol, i think its hard cos im new to this, dont kno all the diff ways, not got salon experience yet etc so when im taught something i take it all in an believe in it completely so when i hear other methods, opinions on nails i get so confused lol ( happens pretty often)
i dont mind using l and p to build the white, i do find whit tips quicker, but im pretty sure there are nail tech who build the white and can do em in 45 to an hr, so i just tell myself if they can, i can lol

i dont think doin it that way make u less of a nail tech, uv found a way that works for u, makes u a living, an keep the clients happy who can complain about that, i think thats pretty good

White tips have there place but only if they are used properly other wise the enhancement doesnt look right.

If I do a set of popits I will use a white performance tips but again only if the client has a nice length of nail and not a short little nail plate.

All the other times I do enhancements I use white powder for me this is easier than using a white tip but this is my personal prefrence

I use white tips! As uniq12 said time is money! I will sculpt the white tip and use opaque on nail bed if a client is prepared to pay...but its alot with me! I want to earn x amount an hour, most clients who I can't use white tips on choose to have natural finish and paint a french!

I was taught to sculpt, and always thought white tips were cheating lol I had my eyes opened one day at a CND demo day I totally love white performance tips!
But I'm glad I learnt to sculpt first, and I tend to do this for nail biters or ladies with short nail beds (over clear tips) or using coloured powders instead of white hth xx

yeh thats the way i feel if i ppl want a white tip, it doe feel like cheating, it was cnd i trained with, i think they sorta lean away from white tips 2bh, b4 i trained with then i used whit tips all the tip, altho i thnk uv got a point its good to b able to do both, u can acommodate more clients that way x x x
