I totally agree with you!

My personal opinion is, pageants for children should be outlawed. But because someone is making $$$, they won't be. My 'solution' would be to have pageants ban beauty enhancements for children.

It's disgusting to see these kids with fake tans, fake teeth and hair, wearing make up, dressing and posing provocatively. Honestly, I don't know what is wrong with people!

In this particular case of the 8 year old being botoxed by her 'mum', I feel that for the sake of this child, she should not be allowed to participate. Maybe then, the madness would stop.

Unless is for medical reasons all cosmetic alteration to minors are illegal.
Now what is illegal in one country can be legal in another.

I think pageants could be fun and some are cute but I watch the tv shows of the ones in america and it's way too much.
I think its more that some of the mums are living through their children and force too much pressure on them!
They end up crying when the lose and say they feel they've let their mums down!

That shouldn't be the case at all it should time for mums and children to bond and just have fun with it!

I agree the botox is abuse and she should be locked up and not be aloud to look after her child it's sick!
I don't agree with children getting spray tans but each to their own and at least it's not permanent (better than them catching rays and getting serious skin damage I suppose!)
And make up... Every little girl wants to try on mums mascara and lip gloss when going to a party.

They should definatly have strict rules on how much is too much with these things!

In a nutshell, "Baby Jane" was a 'child star' and while an adult, she was bonkers. Wanting to be 'Baby Jane" again, but of course couldn't be (there's a whole lot more to the story).
Anyhow, my point is this: WHAT IS THE EFFECT all this Pageant stuff having on the children long term?

I'm all for children playing dress-up, but Pageants are a long way off from that game.
Adults are encouraging and condoning small children wearing makeup, heels, spray tans, hair extensions etc etc etc AND rewarding them for being the 'prettiest'.
WHAT message is that sending to the children?
Let's not forget all the pressure these young children are under.

It's disgusting. From all I've read on it, seen of it; I haven't seen anything positive come of it, long term, for these children.

Added to that, what else is taking place that we don't know about? In addition to the Botox.

We chose to pull our children from the T-ball league this year (softball aka baseball) because last year, there were 'fixed' teams in two divisions (causeing a re-division of teams part way through the season) and parents encouraging their children to cheat to win, parents encouraging their children to laugh at opposing players when they didn't do well, etc etc etc...

We wanted our children to learn sportsmanship, and team work and instead they were receiving very very negative messages.

It's all about Parents being far too competitive (whether it's the t-ball or pageants), taking things too far, and forgetting about the children's needs while suffused with their own need for success.

Some people simply shouldn't be allowed to procreate.

I personally think it's absolutley disgusting that as a mother, she has betrayed her daughters trust by injecting her with a chemical that could, if not administered correctly, ruin her looks and life. This "mother" obvioulsy has no real idea of how to be a mother and in my opinion, should not get away with it.

Could you imagine if something had happened? What if her face had been paralysed permanently or her eyes had drooped or some kind of permanent disfigurement? As an adult you can make an informed decision whether to go through it but as a child you trust your parents. I can't believe that any parent would deliberately cause their child unnecessary pain and harm for no good reason! Putting some makeup on them is one thing but injecting poison??? Xx

This is clearly a case of child abuse!

Clearly Botox for an 8 year old is neither indicated or necessary! I would never inject someone under 18 for cosmetic purposes and I usually suggest 30+

The only reason it should ever be used in children is for medical reasons such as highly specialist treatments for spasticity in stroke or multiple sclerosis for example, but this would be carried out by specialist staff.

I can't even begin to think hat this 'mother' was even thinking about!
