    Perron Rigot vs Berodin?

I am quite sure I will be taken to task for my input, or flayed for double dipping... The best way to choose a brand is to work with one long enough to have some experience with it. Do this with two or three brands until you find one that suits you AND you like the company you purchase it...

Excited to learn this, Aquamarine Wax by Berodin

I have replied. BERODIN IS NOT AND NEVER HAS BEEN PR. It is not made by the same chemists, it is not made in the same lab, it is not made in the same country and it IS NOT SOLD BY THE SAME PEOPLE. haters...everywhere I have never seen this kind of outcry when another brand releases a new...

Excited to learn this, Aquamarine Wax by Berodin

Berodin was never in partnership with PR. The owner and chemist of PR sold it and moved on. I was the leading seller of PR in the states for 23 years, so I have always felt like it is an amazing brand. (or used to be). From there I had the amazing opportunity of working with this genius to...

Sticks and strips - who's do you use?

There is nothing like a non-disposable spatula for soft wax. Yes this means you have more than one and they are more expensive than the other, but you don't throw them out and they are lovely to spread the wax, easier and faster with a better application. As far as strips go: pellon or...

Another Blow to the tanning industry

Perhaps people should get used to being Caucasian and frankly tanning beds should be gone!

    Waxing - which make?

Kim, I have no idea about the Cirepil Homme, haven't seen or played with it yet. When I was working with PR they would come out with new products and I would try them and kept going back to Ease and Blue. Which is why I really focused on those two formulations. Both Blues are non-strip...

    Eyebrow problem

That was a great sketch. Brows grow in the direction they do just because they do. Latino and Asian (Oriental) brows have a tendency to grow down. It has never been my theory that tweezing or waxing changes the direction of the root simply based on the fact that we have never done a skin plug...

    Waxing help

With a few of the really beautiful brands out there, removing it quickly no longer matters. In fact it is one of the more important parts of true 'speed waxing', that you can apply a product to the entire body part without fear of it setting up. The Jasmine oil is an absolute go, and yes, you...

    Discomfort after waxing legs

I have also found if the client uses pumice gloves and bath get the very next day it helps get rid of this irritation much faster. Of course I don't mean doing a really agressive scrubbing, but a light going over seems to get the client through it faster than treating it gently.

    Slight bruising from waxing?

For the most part bruising is caused from not holding the skin tight enough and/or pulling it off into the air. Going over the area 2 times is ok if you protect the skin. And then it may just have been your lucky day.

Waxing during First Trimester of Pregnancy?

I have waxed from the first week all the way through to the day before delivery. As a beauty therapist there is nothing that we do (or should do) that can have an effect on pregnancy. There are theories about different essential oils that are unsafe to use, but the reality is unless someone...

    Waxing

Spatula anyday. I think it feels better than the roller for the application and you can be just as quick.

    Acne in another country

Good link. According to that data, it only occured in the 50's and this is on the face and back like traditional acne. Non of their parents have it which is why I call it first generation. My take is the dirt and pollution in the air and iron in the water. It has only been in the last 15...

    Double dipping

My point is that can of wax was not promptly pulled and inspected for a direct point of problem. It was assumed as that the treatment was the source. Some of my family members almost died from staph gotten from a hospital. So the combination was perfect for her to 'get' something. And I have...

    Acne in another country

Hey All, just got back from a week in Viet Nam teaching skin care techniques and treatments. I have to say I have NEVER seen such acne in such large amounts. All first generation. It was amazing and a learning experience for sure. For those of us who have been doing advanced skin care...

Double dipping & more about practices

Here in the states they don't accept alcohol, but there are lots of bacterial solutions that are approved. The State Board will give you everything you need for sterilizing, but the rules on double dipping are still vague and misleading. Call California State Board for the handbook of rules...

Waxing - products to make it easier?

How about if you tell them to take it like a woman? All the numbing products out there work very differently on different peeps. Some love it and some say it doesn't do much. Technique and monthly waxing is always the best key to diminish the discomfort.

    Virgin Waxer

Regardless of hair type it takes 3 to 4 waxes 4 weeks apart for the hair to come completely out and the legs to be smooth. To expect a perfectly smooth finish on a first time client simply won't happen and explaining that to your client before you wax them will save you this anguish. Waxing is...

    NEED some help!!

It is a scary topic at first since it hurts the client and has lots of potential for things to go wrong. Practice and classes (private or trade show) and other methods of education and forums like this where you can ask specific questions will help you move forward. Hang in there!
