    High Quality client head bands

Hi there fellow beauty professionals. I am trying to find those fabric headbands which do up by velcro or similar for facial clients. White are no good as they yellow and look grubby. Some have poor quality velcro which doesn't last and stops sticking and most are way too short and don't wrap...

    Steam or galvanic for extractions?

Hi Linffs,. Some Clay mask ideas for you: :) You might be interested in looking into dry clays that you mix with water yourself for you clients. Commercially available ones, from the right professional salon brands, are also ok too, however there are two benefits to using your own dry clay. One...

    Steam or galvanic for extractions?

Hi Mundo, yes this site is fabulous. I have done extractions on clients for a few years now without using a steamer, and it always works a treat. I use various methods for this. Some young clients like steam as it they probably think this is the only way to do it. I have an desincrustation...

    Looking for new desincrustation machine

Hello fellow Beauty Therapists. Do any of you currently use or have in the recent (ish) past used a really good quality Desincrustation and Iontophoresis machine please? I am looking to purchase one and don't want to end up investing in one that's 'so so'. I have over 30 years in the business...

    Steam or galvanic for extractions?

Mundo this is such a good point! Thank you, you've made me re-think my search for a new steamer. I do agree that steam isn't actually necessary, strictly speaking, to warm and relax the skin and do extractions. I love that you've thought of the hygiene/visors aspect. :)

    Second hand beauty equipment

Hello fellow beauty Mavens, I want to get a professional face steamer, but I need it to be small as possible, and preferable second hand too, as I have limited budget at the moment. Do any of you know of a warehouse/wholesaler that deals in second hand beauty equipment in the Herts/Bucks/North...

    Make up to cover scars?

Hi Claire, ok, I look forward to hearing from you again. I have replied to your message, I just saw it. Try a natural oil rather than Bio Oil. Bio Oil is mainly liquid parrafin, which doesn't do anything for scarring or for the skin for that matter. Makes me cross how they advertise it to give...

    Client complaints procedure

Hi Yvonne91 . I've not really had a serious issue with a client, luckily, it depends what sort of advice exactly you nee, as I'm not sure that there is an official ''procedure'' If you tell me a bit more, I might be able to offer my opinion or advice? If a client is unhappy, then I , personally...

    Skin ladies-I have a boil!

Hi Grace_Hair, Have you maybe thought about reducing eating dairy, especially cheese and milk and cream? It might have something to do with it as these things are notorious for exacerbating or even causing skin issues. I have been a skin specialist for many years and usually things like this can...

    Make up to cover scars?

Hi Claire, I am a professional make up artist and skin specialist. I also recommend Dermablend. Also, if your scars are fairly 'young' as in less than a year or two old, or still red or purple, you might be lucky and get them to fade a bit (which they will to a certain extent, in time anyway, so...

Applying blusher to chubby cheeks, help

Use a good foundation that isn't shiny or greasy to begin with, and powder very naturally. Use a MATTE powder or make up/powder that is half to one shade darker than the resulting foundation/powder you have used (or your natural skin) and apply VERY subtly just under cheekbones, to sculpt and...

Thanks for the great advice, I am still learning so much about this site. (love this site by the way, it is extremely well designed and very professional) I just wish I was more au fait with technology!

    A new mascara!

Hi there! I have used every brand from Estee Lauder, Lancôme, etc etc, to many of the cheaper brands, (I get to try them out as I write beauty articles and am a professional make up artist), and I have found that L'Oreal and Maybelline mascaras are very good. They compare very favourably with...

    Blackheads-help!

I completely agree with Bombalurina. I would have answered you exactly the same! Go to a good salon, and have a facial, only way to remove them.

    Pedicurist cut my toe!

It's a bit late for me to give you this advice now, as your post says 17th August. But, if you ever get cut again, or your cuticle is nipped a little too much, or any part of nail/cuticle/toe feels like it is going to get sore or infected, go and buy some really good quality essential oil of...

    Applying fake eye lashes-advice please

Hello Mahy, I would apply the lashes first. Put a thin line of glue (not the permanent glue, the soft one that peels off later in the day), on the spine of the lashes, wait a few seconds for the glue to become less 'watery', then carefully put the spine with glue right on top of the roots of...

    Personal websites for employment

Hi smallandcute. You should definitely go ahead and build a website. There are lots of free ones. If like me, you are not so expert at all things online (you are probably much better than me tho), get a friend to help. That's what I did. I just paid her back with free make up and facials. Don't...

    Attending clients weddings?

Yes, I agree, I always wonder whether my wedding make up clients are inviting me out of politeness and whether I should go. I do go to some of the weddings, and tend to give a voucher for a free make up session or lesson as a gift, as buying gifts can get expensive if one goes to lots of...
