Hi

I've got my 2 spray tans next week.

Its been about 6 months since i trained with fake bake and thats me getting set up now. My memory is so bad and worried i'll miss something since its been so long since i trained

i'm going to do a practice on my boyfriend the day before

Any tips or advice for my first tan?

I would take a little note pad and write down your exact proceedure so you have it to hand.

I know it sounds obvious but when you are nervous you are more likely to forget something.

So:
consultation
barier cream
tie hair back
sticky feet
back of legs
side of legs
front of legs
inside of legs
back
blah blah blah.
wipe finger nails and palms
aftercare advise etc
take cash
feel great after a sucessful tan!

Carron...a couple of months from now you will be wondering why you were so nervouse

I would definitely recommend that if your training was a while ago that you try and get as many practice tans in starting now to prepare yourself for the big day,

The thing you have going for you is that this customer will assume you know exactly what you are doing so don't give them any reason to doubt that..try and come across confident and be the one in control of the situation and all will be fine for you...and your customer
Good luck

Hi Carron

I know how you feel, I trained with fake bake on Monday I sprayed 2 friends yesterday it went fine I havent spoke to themyet to see how the tan developed. but I have a booking tonight for 3 girls and im So nervous .I think we just have to take our time and trust in our training. can you not spray a couple of friends before your booking this may help.

Good luck with it all.

WOW, im imperssed with the self restraint!! I would have been on the phone to your friend about 8am this morning to check if she showered yet!! hehe
I do it to my pal ALL the time!

:eek:Hiya

No I have no self restraint I tried calling but phones are going to voice mail (do you think this is a bad sign LOL) No Really both girls are on a training course today not finished till 4.30 so I will be straight on then haha. I have been worried sick all day incase its a disaster.

biggest tip...

If they ask you how long you have been doing tanning dont ask 'what's the time now?.......' PMSL!!

You'll be fine! takes a few tans to get your routine but after that you wont even think about it!

Good luck x

I was the same when I started and have a cheat sheet pinned to the wall out of the clients sight obviously!!

My advice would be to get some friends in to practice and boost your confidence - but you will be fine!! Trust your training - you wouldn't have passed if you weren't good enough!! xx

i saw the girl today who i'm doing my first spray tan on.

she has very dry skin all over especially her hands.

i'll be using the fake bake mistifyer on her.

how have you coped with someone who has really dry skin and hands?

Hi Carron, I use Fake Bake all the time and apply their oil-free moisturiser all over the client's hands, with the client rubbing in well. A lot of the time I'll apply proper barrier cream to the client's fingernails, wiping it off afterwards. I also have dry hands myself and my hands come out great when I've put the moisturiser on them beforehand. Keep the gun just slightly further away when you're doing the hands too. Good luck xx

carron i would ask her to make sure she exfoliated and moisturised prior to coming to you that way her skin could be in a bit bettter condition. and as the previous poster said make sure and apply moistuirer to her hands.
Chick we have all been there ans it is so nerve wrecking i still wonder if i brides is going to come out o.k but hand on heart through the years i've ben grand and once you get a few good complients you confidence will soar and it'll be a doddle honestly.

p.s carron toni lee done a spray tan tutorial i think on this website i think some geeks printed it out and put it up to remind them and remind clients etc. as well i dont mean for her to moisturise on the day she is coming to you.

We’ve all been there, although you maybe so nervous inside number 1 rule don’t let it show. if you show confidence then they will be confident in you, each tan will get less daunting. When I first started I wrote write some notes down and keep refreshing myself before I went to a client’s house xx

hi

had a practice on my boyfriend. it didn't go to well so i called my friend, in a panic, who also does spray tan and it turns out the + and - setting on my gun needed to be adjusted phew. it happened to her aswell when she started out.

unfortinately it was to late to do another practice on him so i'm going to practice with water in the morning

i've been practicing my routine and making funny spray noises as i'm doing it

:) Hi Carron, really hope your first customer goes well, i understand how the first is very scary, so cross fingers for you and enjoy it.:hug:xx

just waiting on my 1st client. ohhh the nerves. i'll let you know how it goes.

she should be here any minute

i did it. :)

it all looked fine when she left. there was one slight area on her arm that was blotchy just above her wrist. i blended it in with the mitt. i didn't want to spray anymore, as it had already been sprayed

her underarms did go green with the deodorant she had on but there's nothing i could do about that

i'm going to pop along her house tomorrow to see how it looks when she's washed the colour guide off, i'll know then if it was a success

i took wine as payment as this was my first practice tan. my next client will be my first paying

i'm still not 100% confident with my gun. i was spraying from a good distance away from her and was finding it was coming out in lots of drops rather than a perfect mist. need to keep adjusting the +/- knob

feel like i need a vodka after that at one point when it wasn't a fine mist i wanted to tell her to jump in the shower but i'm glad now i carried on and didn't show i was panicing.

WELL DONE CHICK!

I've just gone to clean my tent out, couldn't believe it. The gun wouldn't spray and when I looked at it closer it looks like the seal is loose
