Why not 'borrow' one for your course work and then decide if you can live without it afterward?

One thing I will tell you from experience is that those students who practice their techniques using it 'get on' much more quickly than those who do not and who only rely on live models.

hi liz, i am on that course monday, v excited!! i have bought a nail trainer off ebay but came with no tips so havent had any practice yet. just out of interest, what address do you have for the course? i had an address in st helens but found out via someone else going they have central liverpool address!! lol, i was almost at the wrong place.

look forward to meeting you, kirsty x

Hiya, I trained with Katie and her salon is in St Helens but sometimes she uses a hotel/ function room to train in depending on how many is on the course..

Kirsty, look forward to meeting you! yep i have a central liverpool address, i just hope i dont get lost trying to find it! haha!

Geeg, thanks for the advice, good idea, i think i will probably buy one in the end. Will be easier to practice on plus ill be able to practice loads more than just doing live models.

laura, glad to know you enjoyed it! i cant wait!

Thanks xx

I bought my own nail trainer from day 1. It was in constant use long after my foundation course and I consider it essential. HTH

I would definitely recommend buying your own nail trainer. You can practise whenever you want and it will never get bored, be too busy or complain. I still won't pension it off, even now! :)

I can't believe I threw mine out......it was the days before I knew about ebay

i would recommend buying one, purely because its a great tool to have even when youve been qualified for many years. its great for practising new designs on. i actually do all of my nail art on the trainer nails, and then store them in a folder ive got for my customers to look through.

as geeg has mentioned though, borrow one for the training, even if only for one day, and then look at investing in one if you decide its a piece of equipment you'll need/want.

you dont even need to buy a brand new one if your finances cant stretch to the cost of a new one. places such as ebay are always selling 2nd hand ones, and you can buy replacement silicone fingers and a few other parts for the actual fingers which can make any 2nd hand trainer look like new. hope this helps xx

I borrowed mine, but after I qualified I realised that as it took time to build up a client base then a nail trainer would be the way to go. A ready made practice client availiable any time, day or night!

You NEED a nail trainer.
Various books. (many links on here to books needed)
Good quality products.
Also TIME to practice mate...and models if you can get them! Really important x
