hi everyone

I have a sort of interview tomorrow at a salon in our town (a well respected and good salon) and will need to do a manicure on the salon owner :)eek:) Its a year since I did manicure at college, so am a bit rusty at it! (I usually do artificial nails). I have set out my routine below, but could you please tell me if its in the right order or if I have missed anything out? She said it should last 45 minutes for the manicure, but she doesnt want nail polish so should I just ask her how long she would expect the manicure to take? It may be hard to span it out that long with her not having polish!

my routine:

1. remove any old polish
2. sanitise hands/nails (wash and use nail prep)
3. file nails
4. apply cuticle cream
5. soak
6. push cuticles back with hoof stick
7. use cuticle knife and nippers
8. repeat process on other hand when dried
9. buff nails
10. apply massage lotion and massage arms and hands
pat arms and hands dry with towel

(I am not sure if i have got 9 and 10 the wrong way round!)

sorry to ramble on!

thanks!:)

I would reverse #1 and #2. You want to sanitize their hands before you do anything else. Other than that, it looks good. Good luck! :)

I would say file and do cuticle cream on one hand then whilst that is soaking do the same to the other hand otherwise whilst the other hand is soaking you could be sort of sitting there not doing anything! Just a suggestion! The rest looks fine!
As for her wanting you to give it 45 mins just say to her that you would leave X amount of time for polishing and thats why you've finished quicker!Good luck!

hi thanks for your help ladies! yes I always work on the other hand whilst one is soaking it also looks more professional doesnt it?! fingers crossed it goes ok tomorrow! :)

Good luck. Lx

Do you know what they use in the salon. If you do or you can find out, swat up a bit on the product and the techniques/procedure required

I agree with the others. are you going to do a consultation? if not then sanitise first then remove polish, I also massage then buff nails.
good luck :)

its purely a hair salon at the moment and I would be the only nail tech there. I have some Kaeso products, Sanctuary Spa (I have been trying out the hot sugar scrub on people its gorgeous!) and OPI but I think I will be able to use what I like and can start and finish at a time that I choose which is great as it fits in with school/nursery runs. The salon owner actually passed a job on to me last saturday for a manicure party which was really good of her too! its was fun to do I really enjoyed it.:)

hi thanks for all your advice ladies - the interview was good (I did a full manicure with massage on the salon owner) and its looking like she may employ me (she said at the end that we will have a chat soon and told one of her clients that i might be coming to work with them!) so i am now waiting for her phone call!:)
