This may sound like a silly question to all you pro tanners on hee, but I just have to ask.
I am going to do a course and do spray tanning alongside my nail business, so have been avidly searching all over the net.

My question is; is airbrush tanning-tanning machines, the same as HVLP turbines?

Thanks

Hi, no they are not the same although they both can function well for spray tanning in the right hands . I have a Airbrush with compressor (is this what you mean), but found it a pain for spray tanning as the spray from your airbrush will not give you a larger area coverage as that of the HVLP. I have a T200 which is fab for spray tanning. I hope this has been of help I am sure you will get more detailed replys to your post to help you make up your mind if you do a search on HVLP it will give you more detailed information on the different machines.

I have both, and personally I love my airbrush! I find it has a much more controllable feel to it, uses less solution and I much prefer the resulting tan as I can use the finer spray area for contouring. My clients love it and most ask for the airbrush nowadays.

However the spray gun/HVLP do have advantages....they are quicker, cover a larger area and are probably easier to cart around if you are mobile.

I personally think it largely depends on how you are going to use it that would help you make your decision.

Hi,
I have a HVLP, and love my machine, but haven't used the airbrush type.
HVLP machines are very quick, but I do read that we use more solution and there can be more overspray.
Check with a few training centres, see what they advise, take it all on board, then STOP and have a think...then you can make the right decision for you.
Best wishes
Lotsa luv x   x

Hi

I have 2 hvlp machines. One is the T200 mobile version - very neat little machine, light to carry, very little overspray, the other is the Minimist Pro which is a larger machine suitable for either mobile or salon therapists. Excellent machine - capable of doing multiple tans, slightly heavier to carry around but again very little overspray.

On average i use 25-30mls per tan with both of these machines. I have used an airbrush and didn't like it personally. I feel you have more control and give a better tan with an HVLP type machine. HTH:hug:
