does anyone have any advice. Im soaking akzentz gels off in acetone and they dont seem to be 'furring up' or soaking off properly. Does anyone else find this? It is acetone they're meant to be soaked off with aren't they? Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

Are you removing the shine first?

If you used a bonder on the whole nail that could be the reason also. May have to file them first. In my experience, either way, they weren't that easy to soak off.

did you use a soak off sealer + gel line? if not - acetone wont penetrate a regular sealer + gel.

Which Akzentz gel are you using? Only the options gel line soak off.

it's the options soak off range. I use opti bond for my base coat then 2 coats of colour and then base and gloss for my top coat. I soak them off in the new soak off bath with acetone and they just dont budge sometimes

I prefer the foil soak off method. Also make sure you really buff them well before soaking off if you use the opti-bond as they will take longer to soak off than without it.

The opti bond could be making it difficult to soak off. When I used Akzentz I only applied a bonder around the free edge. This helped alot in making it a little easier to soak off. It doesn't soak off like other products, gooey, it cracks and pops off the nail.

thats what im finding. I was expecting it to go gooey and it just doesn't

Pure acetone is the way to go. the foil method is great - and there's also those cute little individual soakers for each finger that work awesome, too.

Pure acetone is the way to go.

To be honest, I would never recommend the use of pure acetone for soaking off. It is very drying to the nail and with such great product removers available now at very reasonable prices, that contain good nail conditioners, and don't take any longer, I can't see why one would use pure acetone.

Akzentz soaks off quite different to some other soak off gels, it doesn't go all rubbery, it kind of flakes off. The reason its taking longer is because you have applied Opti-bond all over the nail. it's designed to be applied around the sidewalls and free edge, so if you've placed it all over it will take longer.

It will soak off but give it a quick buff to thin the apex and break the seal at the free edge by reducing length slightly and foil wrap. I would also use heat in this instance as it's being tough....this will speed up the soak off. So try placing a hot water bottle or wheat pillow over the fingertips whilst wrapped.

thanks for that lyndsey, I use the new soak off bath thats advertised on here sometimes. I use opti bond as a base coat is that not right?

Opti-bond is more like a bond optimiser.....used sparingly where you might suffer lifting, so unless you are prone to pocket lifting, which Akzentz isn't, unless applied or cured wrongly, then its just around the edges that it's needed.

Opti-bond makes it harder to soak off so the more that is applied the tougher soak off will be.

ah ok this is where im going wrong. OOOPS!! Do you need to use a base coat or can you just do 2 colour coats and a top coat?

If your client isn't lift prone, then you probably don't need to use Opti-bond at all. For these normal clients use...

Surebond
Base and Gloss - cure
2 x coats of colour - cure after each
Base and Gloss - cure and wipe.

For lift prone clients use

Surebond
Opti-bond around FE, sidewalls and cuticle - leave centre clear and cure
Base and Gloss - cure
2 x coats of colour - cure after each
Base and Gloss - cure and wipe.

If its a dark colour, I wipe after the first layer of Base and Gloss, and this minimises shrinkage.

Thanks for that Lyndsey :)

Just curious if you got the removal under control? I just started with the Akzentz soak off line and I have the same problem.
I've tried the opti-bond, but figured out and read that its super hard to soak off, so I've just basically been using sure bond, 1 coat of base and gloss, 2 coats of color and then a top coat of base and gloss.
Ive been having a hard time soaking them off. I've tried soaking cotton balls in the remover, with the foil and it doesnt budge.
Ive also tried soaking the hand in solution.
I've also tried filing off, but it defeats the purpose of SOAK OFF.
If you're gonna do the foil method, how much foil should you be using and how small should the cotton ball be?
Your supposed to keep it warm, would it be a bad idea to wrap the fingers in foil and then stick the hand into heating mittons ( paraffin mits ) the electric one...?
