Hi.

I would love to wear an alternative to a tunic for mobile nails and beauty. Do you think this would look unprofessional? Does anyone have any ideas? My business name is Crystalspa.

I have never worn a tunic in my life and I would never choose to if a tunic is what I think it is.

I do think a uniform looks professional and I would never not wear one. There are literally hundreds of manufacturers of nice uniforms that would be perfectly suitable to wear as a mobile therapist. You only have to google to find them but a few suggestions are:

In Line (this is my personal favourite easy care and wash a million times)
Florence Roby
Salonwear Direct
La Beeby
Healthand beautywear
Diamond Designs

Geeg gave you great links. FWIW, I make my own uniform tops, which are like tunics, but not. IN other words, they are blouses made in a tunic fashion, with the sleeves being 3/4 and loose enough so I'm not constricted. My sewing machine does embroidery too so I do my own logo's (and used to do my FIL's work shirts as well with his company logo)

If you or someone you know is handy with an overlocker or a sewing machine with embroidery capabililty, you can really be inventive and different. Its also cheaper in the long run (I think anyway).

Good luck
Nancy :)

I wear a long tunic style T-shirt in black with white embroidery around the neck line. Looks really smart with black trousers and gives me the flexibility of a t-shirt - very comfy. I got it from an online fashion catalog, so it was really inexpensive.

You dont have to pay a lot or be uncomfortable to look professional. As long as you give off the right image, be smart, smell nice, hair and make up done then I think you'll be just fine.

Just looked at the website for Simon Jersey and i can't believe how cheap they are! We had to get our college tunics from Florence Roby and they were way more expensive for exactly the same item!
I will definately be getting my tunics from Simon Jersey in the future - thanks for that guys!:)

Health and Beauty Wear Health and Beauty Wear Salon Tunics have a deal on at the moment with some of their "tunics" :)lol: Geeg) - 3 for £35 which is really cheap. However, they do come up small, I had ordered mine before I saw a post on here saying exactly that, and lo and behold they are too tight!!!! So now I have to re-order and send them back:mad:.

With regards to your original question though, as others have said, as long as you are neatly presented you will be fine. Even black trousers and a black t-shirt looks smart, you could get a logo printed on some t-shirts for very little cost.

Geeg, I would love to know what your idea of a tunic is??!!! Is it something hideous?!:green:

Is it a Tabard you a thinking of? what 1950's housewives wore to keep their clothes clean?
I am having a uniform crisis at the mo', the ones we got last year although pretty pull on my neck due to weight of bust! They ae the Nicole from Diamond Design. They wash fantastic and have a lil stretch so if you have small ****s then you'll have no probs. DD are a great company to go with have worn them for 5 years, I'm back wearing the kate but want something more snazzy.
I tried a 3/4 t-shirt, black tops but i dont ever look as professional as when I wear my uniform. I have also been through a phase of wearing my Craetive Spa apron over my clothes.................. Would be interested to see how you get on

****s can be a handicap in the nail business in more ways than one!! I always used to have to shorten my brush handles too as the ****ies kept getting in the way of my movement and creativity!!

 Tunics are definately NOT tabards!!!! I can see why you were horrified though :green:

I work from home and I just make sure I am always in black smart trousers, 'sensible' black shoes and a black or black and white top. I did end up buying a few tops til I found one that DIDN'T leave fibres in your gel!! But at least it looks smart and professional. :)
