Ok, I have just been going through my memory bank and realised that I could not recal where the Keratinocytes were found in the epidermis. Right, I thought, I will go have a look at all my texts books which didn't tell me or gave me some conflicting information.

I am thinking that...

As keratinocytes are responsible for keratin production that they would be found somewhere between the stratum granulosum (where the cells begin to keritanise) or the stratum corneum where the cells are completely keritanised???

Also, the stratum lucidum is full of eledin ok thats fine. However, I have a text book that says eledin is found in the form of keritohylin granules in living cells. However, to my knowledge keratohylin granules only occur as the nucleus begins to break down and fragment. Thus leaving the cell dead. So how can that be??
