Hi all,
I've completed a generic L&P, Gell and Fibreglass extension training course and currently filling in the gaps of that (there are alot!) with a college run NVQ2 which i love.

However with so many products on the market, NSI, Creative, OPI etc are there any suppliers that offer free training as an incentive to purchase products?

It would seem silly to pay for training on so many systems to find one that i like better, suits my clients, value for money etc.

I want to offer cleints a wide range of services including a simple gel top coat or prem french but for such a simple extra im looking at a £100 conversion course.

I would love in an ideal world to train Creative but i simply dont have the money.

PS the same goes for brushes, i would like to trial or try a brush. Im happy to spend alot on the best but having brought two already (one ruined my fault and second is a flat oval brush) and i think a round one would be better to achieve easier smile lines, but i dont want to waste money on one i dont like.....

Help please!

Hiya ... Some companies do a free conversion course and you just pay for the kit....have you tried ringing Sweet Squared to see what they offer Creative wise...?

I rang Mercedes with the same thoughts, I wanted to trial one of their cars for 6 months, just to see if I really wanted to buy it.

And just like am am now ........ they laughed.

I work for Jaguar and my Husband for BMW

If someone wanted to take one for a test drive then we would say "here you go Sir......"

We are talking tens of thousends of pounds worth of trial here, not £100 kit

It works in other areas of buisness so why not the nail industry?

It's called marketing. Something i know alot about. Unfortuntely not within this industry :)

The thing is... Not all companies use the same meathods...so to get the best from a certain brand you need to be shown how to use it...It would be unfair for a company to just sell you something, you not get on with it and think its down to the product when in fact its down to you and the fact that you don't know how to use it.

Not all gels are applied in the same way with the same techniques/prep, so thats why alot of companies prefer that you do a course. HTH

As previously mentioned, you would be best ringing sweet squared 0845 210 6060. They are very helpful. They have free conversion courses and you just pay for the kit. HTH

Just using Carls analogy LOL - you may well say to a potential customer here you go but you certainly would not allow them to just drive off on their own. But we digress.

Most companies offer try me kits which will enable you to do a few sets of nails - they only cost a few pounds. Why not get a selection of them and find a product you like and then progress further that way.

But please bear in mind that you will never get the full potential out of your chosen product until you do a specific conversion or one to one.

I am not 100% sure but I think I saw an ad in this months scratch or pb that Ezflow are also doing free conversions - maybe give them a call.

ps. For what its worth, I agree with you - changing brands should be easier for customers like us. However 'Education' is probably one of the biggest revenue streams for distributors in this country in the nail biz, it seems its just how this industry works in the UK. I think its quite difficult to make money from just selling product alone:lol:

EzFlow are offering FREE conversion training.... it is advertised in Sratch
hth:hug:

Dear, dear , dear, ya give an inch and they want to take a mile (and they prove it everyday).

I think I'll test drive a Bentley today instead !!!!!!, now where did i put my damn license?

You did a 2 day course (kinda like buying a 20 year old car from a gypsy) and expect it to drive like a Jenson Interceptor (just thought i'd throw that in, it's my favourite car, with the most expensive rear windscreen in the world and the largest domestic motor I think ..... don't quote me, not to mention those fab racing seats with the cross over safety belts and the Jumbo sized ashtray).
I know I'm rambling like Vicky Pollard, no but yeah, but no, but yeah ......

but luv, what do you expect after a cheap 2 day course?

You should have taken the Jaguar course (CND) and today you would be on the road to somewhere.

Instead you chose the Austin Healey.

Open the glovebox and invest in a decent course.

Without specific education from a product manufacturer you will not get the best from a product

A lot of conversion courses cover the cost of the kit and the training is free

If you haven't been trained to offer a permanent french yet you will need to before you can offer it to clients. Surely that investment in training is for the long-term gain of your business?

Why not? A CND conversion is around the £100 mark that you mention

That I'm afraid is trial and error if you choose to stray away from the brush you've been trained with!

Help please!

IMO, you need to decide which company offers the best package of product and education and go with them. Personally, I recomment CND alll the way......

hth's

Well it made me laugh, Carl!

Most companies will offer great value as incentive to convert. I can only speak about CND, but hope this helps!

The problem with the comparison between cars and training is simple: volume and consumption. When you trial a car for a week, you can return it and say 'naaa'. Not for me and the car can be sold or re-used for another potential punter. When you do nails, you consume products which can't be returned or reused. The other problem is that we would have thousands on free trial consuming products while a car dealership may have 1 person who isn't really consuming anything.

A better comparison would be supermarkets. Supermarkets don't let you shop for months at no charge simply because you couldn't return the goods you used during the 'trial'.

Would it be a great idea if plausible? Sure it would! And I am sure many companies would participate - unfortunately it isn't a viable way to conduct business.

So, most companies offer value where they can.

At CND, we offer a L&P conversion course at £99.95 which includes a kit that contains over £200 of product. We also throw in a full day of training FOC to boot. This gives you the basic education on the system and the products you need to properly make a decision at what we feel is superb value.

Education is not a profit centre, it is one of our largest cost centres, however we feel that it is our best ROI as it is a pure investment into our customers that pays off in more successful professionals and therefore more successful customers :)

Anyhoo, hope that helps!

 QUESTION !

Can I do this If I have already converted lmao.....:green: :smack:

Of course, but not sure why you would need to :)

I am thinking every time Ems wants £200 worth of products for only £100

I suspect that is the case too, however it seems not necessary as she just received a Master pack at the event (the largest kit we do, even larger than the kit at the conversion course). Though its still great value, she will end up with a lot of duplicated value (i.e. Cool Blue, tips, adhesives, powders, etc...). Since she has a solid kit, she would get better value putting the £100 into bulk sizes of what she will go through first :)

Just my 2 cents :)

We all know how fab the Masters pack was, all of us sitting there oohing and aahing like kids in a sweet shop (boom boom  )

I think maybe Em was just teasing!

actually its a good question...sorry to change the topic of the thread but ive often wondered if youd be allowed to do the same conversion more than once....I didnt wonder because of the products but because of the opportunity of getting more valuable time with experts...I know you can get skill building classes and one to ones but you can also get help with other things when you ask on conversion days as well if you see what i mean!

Oooops lol,
I was just teasing. I'm not THAT greedy xxxx :green:

My way of saying that is excellent Value and anyone would be crazy not to take up the offer,
