SCREEAAM!!! I used to do the odd bit of wedding hair, mostly barrel curl up dos as i dont really know much else then when i moved salon i stopped doing it. i have always found it really scary and now the new salon has sent me on a patrick cameron course which was fantastic but im still scared!!!! now the bosses friends weddings coming up and there is noone free to do it but me!! now apart from the fact i was only almost last resort off my boss, not done intentially but still 'hurt', as she hasnt seen me do any hair ups so now im really scared. i mean the first wedding hair in about a year and its the bosses friend, how unlucky!! anyway ihavent seen her yet but she wants half up half down.
i have an idea from the patrick cameron course, and then the simple barrel curls, but what is she likes nither, thats what im scared of, running out of ideas!! im not creative under pressure
so obviously going to practise a lot, i want to be really good and shock my boss!! any tips, ideas....ANYTHING!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

whereabouts are you? you can practise on me if you like!

cheshire!

bugger! how about you contact some other cheshire geeks and have a play? and buy every hair mag you can find! best of luck xx

Hiya , well you must get her to pick out the hairdo she wants first ,

then perhaps go and do some practicing on the dummy head
and then do a couple of dummy runs on the bride to be's head too ,
in the style that she wants
and take some photos too ,

Then on the day you will have it down to a nice well planned hair do ,
good luck hun  x

.

hey

have you spoke to the bride yet maybe you could do a few trial runs together ,she could bring along with her what she is wearing in her hair on the day and just have a play about with the hair you can then see what her hair is like thick/thin straight curly etc most importantly as minky says get her to bring along a picture or have ideas in her mind so you can be well prepared

have you had a look on google images that might beable to give you some ideas let us know how you get on

I specialise in up-do's, and I always get them to come in about one month before the wedding. get them to bring books, colours taira anything they like , then have an indepth consultation and write every thing down, new colour needed? extensions? etc etc. then have a play around with a few different styles and get thier reaction. If you stumble across one they like take a couple of pix on the mobile so they can show Mum/friend later, try to perfect it and nail down EXACTlY what they want then try to have a couple more run throughs if they are fussy (most arent theyre just glad to get it professionally done)if not most are happy to trust you on the day. Have faith in yourself just think it's far better ,than they can do! Try a hi half pony inset tiara then make small barrel curls or ringlets to sit inside tiara and cascade down the back. Either straighten long part or curl with the GHDs . Good Luck Px

hi,. well the bride was in to have her hair cut thhis week so ihad a quick informal chat with her whilst she was in. HER HAIR IS SO SHORT!!!! it is a jaw length bob!! how does she expect that to go up! so she wants half up, but with only the top section up as she wants solid pieces left over her ears, and NO HEIGHT! she has NO IDEA at all what she wants, just something simple, is wearing a viel low down at the occipital bone, and isnt sure about a tiara. so my problems are
1. hair to short, will pull back and meet at the crown to get up, but no hair left to play with and she doesnt want a hairpiece
2. with wearing the veil low down, how will i attach it as that bit of her hair is staying straight. can i just backcomb a section?
3. she doesnt want any hieght whatsso ever yet may have a tiara, which would look ridiculous with no height,. think i will give her slight height, something she would not class as 'hieght' if you know what i mean

good points are
1. she may want something as simple as the front clipped back and a flower put in
2. as she doesnt know what she wants she seems she hasnt really got a high expectation and may not be so fussy

so paigey do you have any ideas? her hair is literaly in a one length jawlenght bob, very straight and silky, quite fine. i think once the half up is clipped up it will have saya bout 2 inches of hair lft to play with. im hoping she will be happy with a simple cross over of the two pieces, and some diamond pieces or flowers in.

Explain she's gonna be limited because of length, yes comb straight back bit of backcomb fix with sparkly clip. flick ends out on length ? veil will have to go on crown lower will look rediculous!
or keep parting clip/grip sides up tong whats left?. or twist sides over themsleves on both sides round to back like a sausage, grip and spray like hell insert flowers/sparklies along the roll then you can attatch veil easily hope this helps

thanks, il let you know how i get on on wed!

hiya
it was ok, i did one style, like a criss cross bow thing and she said that was probably too simple. so i did a barrel curl style which she liked and then a roll which she liked. but she has the most thick straight strong silkiy short hair! worst combination!
and as she hates her ears she wants a big bit over her ears, so like only a halo pulled back, which looks silly in my opinion i treid to pursuade her it looked more elagant with the front pulled back and just a bit left down but she didnt want any at all so had to leave it down. so she is coming in for another trial when she has her tiara and veil....... il try post some pics

What a nightmare! Don't get too stressed px

these r the styles we did on her. the first one was a very simple one to see how much detail she wanted, the second just a barrel curl one, and the third the roll, which would need a smaller hair pad so the roll wasnt so big but it was to show her the shape.

is your lady wearing a veil,
if she is the second one with a tad more hair up, the veil, would cover whats left at the back giving the illusion of linger hair iykwim.....just tell me to shut up lol

Wow you've done wonders with the sows ear HE hE!!! the barrel curls looks FAB especially once you introduce flowers/sparklles and veil ACEx
