I have had a really bad itchy/tickly cough since last week - I never get coughs like this.... and its starting to get me down.

My BF says it has been since I finished day 3 of my CND foundation course and been practising at home and on friends..... and I've realised that he's right!

Now I don't know what to do.. Am I just being paranoid?
Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do to minimise dust? I really don't want to wear a mask but I think I may have to.... :(

There are a lot of my clients and friends and family who have coughs and funny throats and voices at the moment. I know there is a virus running through this part of the world so maybe it is something simple like this. It is less likely to be anything to do with the dust or fumes.

If you are concerned then see your GP rather than worry yourself unnecessarily about your cough.:D

Inhaling dust of any kind is not good for you. Nail dust may not be causing you to cough but it will not be helping either.

It is explained quite thoroughly on all CND courses that you need to protect yourself from dust inhalation when doing nails by using extraction ventilation and other means of minimizing dust.

One great way to minimize dust is for now to use SolarOil before final finish filing. Using SolarOil will help 'lay' the dust and keep it from your breathing zone.

Students always make copious amounts of dust. It's because you are new and using your file to get shape instead of your brush.

When you have developed your skills sufficiently you will make far less dust than you are dong now. So in the meantime, use SolarOil or wear a mask for a bit more protection.

How is this done geeg can you please explain? Would you just put SolarOil over the finished application of the acrylic then file and finish? Would it not ruin the files? Ta x

Solar Oil doesn't ruin files. It does ruin a glosser though but it can be removed before using this.

If the file gets a bit clogged just brush it and wash it (which you should be doing anyway)

In answer to the original poster: it is hayfever time and I have come across so many people that are getting this for the first time.

The oil is a very good tip for a beginner as far more dust than necessary is generated which is only to be expected
