Hey geeks!!

Im - personally - a fake tan queen! Wont leave the house without it! And i want to train in spray tanning but havin a few issues!!

As i say this is a personal question and not used on clients as im not yet trained.

iv used every tan available over about 10 years (im only 22!) but everyone - EVERYONE- (no matter how much they say 'fades naturally' 'no more blotches' etc) leaves me with, after a few days, fleckly lookin faded tan. By this i mean that the tan starts to wear off but in patches (mainly neck) and it looks cracked, spotty etc. Sorry not the best in description!!!

I moisturise daily, exfoliate every other day, and obviously after so long i know how to prep skin and apply properly! I end up having to scrub my skin raw in order to avoid an unsightly mess!!!

What could this be? And any quick ways to remove? Thanx in advance! This will not only help now but also help when training in tanning!!

Hiya, you sound like to do all the right things. If I have stubborn areas, when I get out the shower and my skin is still wet, I buff the dark patches with a towel. I find this works really well to get those pesky last bits off. Hth

Hiya, could be down to your body wash, or moisturiser if its not oil free or perhaps rubbing with the towel instead of patting dry?
I must say the self tans dont wear off quite aswell as the spray imo, If I have my tan done friday night, and moisturise everyday with oil free moisturiser and use a sutable body wash (using DR.organic just now) I dont even need to exfoliate and use the tan extender till the next friday hth xx

Do you exfoliate every other day after the tan has been applied?
If so this could be the problem.
I advise my clients not to exfoliate till at least the 5th day and even then only light exfoliation.
The solution i use lasts 7-10 days so you don't want want to be exfoliating after 2 days really.
To remove tan try smothering yourself in baby oil after a bath. leave on for 45 mins and then exfoliate and shower off :)

Baby oil does work well I have a client who likes a tan every 12 - 14 days on the day before her next tan to smother herself in baby oil leave for 15 min or so and then get into the shower use a puff scrub or mitts to exfoliate then shower as normal it works great and leaves the skin in great condition for her next tan.

You might just want to check with the person doing the spray tan for you and ask them how much solution they are using.

Less is definitely more generally speaking and in particular to areas where you may have problems..as in your neck area....maybe even ask the therapist to reduce the amount of solution to this area..worth a try:hug:

Have you discussed the fading problems you are having with your therapist?

I don't know naff al about tans so I won't comment on the technical side. But what I do know is that the fastest way to get rid of a spray tan is to wax it off. xx

lol it most certainly would be one of the fastest ways of removing a tan Kim ....but not the best way of recommending its removal on a daily basis to a consumer.....unless of course you are a qualified waxer

LOL! I always end up with dodgy looking inside of wrists as i test my wax before each client and forget i have a tan on!

lol it does look weird doesn't it...a bit like a patchwork quilt effect:eek::lol::lol:

Yep that's what i do on my legs!
A good old waxing and it comes off-shame it doesn't work on palms!
Have spilled solution on my palms a couple of times and waxing doesn't work but chlorine from the pool does :)

I have sometimes have a problem with tan going patchy on my neck. Clinique Clarifying lotion removes it no time - its the only thing this stuff is good for!
