I am a part-time Body Shop at home Consultant and am also a newly qualified Beauty Therapist in the process of setting up my own beauty room from home.

I was thinking about using body shop products to begin with in order to cut costs however a few of my colleagues have commented that this may seem unprofessional to the client as it it not a professional range and products can be bought in The Body Shop willy nilly.

I would appreciate your thoughts and comments on the matter as I want to get it right from the start.

Thanks in advance.

Can't really comment but I do know that Beck x is a body shop at home consultant and has her own beauty salon, so it might be worth your while pm ing her for her advise.
Also I think Victoria hunter sells Avon stuff so same thing there.
Hope this helps:hug:

This is my personal opinion, not meant to offend or anything but as a customer:

I don't like the Body shop and wouldn't buy anything in there and I wouldn't be impressed if I went for a profesional service and it was BS products.

From a professional point of view:

I think it's the same as using Revlon nail polish at a Nail salon or Dove shampoo at the hairdressers it's not what you expect.

I have to therefore agree with your colleagues.

Good luck with the project.

Although I do believe Body Shop is a great over the counter range, that is where I believe it should stay - as an over the counter product.

Although you perhaps have a limited budget I would try your best to get a professional range in. That is why clients come to a professional for a treatment.

Me hun ? No :D

I too do agree with the comments above, I do not think the Body Shop products are good for retail but not used in a Professional Beauty Salon. My friend once went for a facial while away in Devon, she was lead into the room and got comfortable on the couch half way through the facial she then noticed No 7 products on the shelfs. On leaving my friend asked the therapist is she had used number 7 products and therapist said yes thinking that was the norm. My friend said that she felt cheated out if a professional facial but never said anything to the salon.

If this was in her home town she would not go back, so not a good way to build up your clients I think.

Good heavens thats appalling!

However, can I add that not all Devon salons are the same!;)

And as for the Body Shop products, then No, they are not aimed at a professional audience so I wouldn't expect a salon to be using them.

big no for me too.

Definately a no from me too:eek:.
If a qualified therapist used body shop products on me, i wouldn't be a happy bunny!

xxxx

i agree with some of what is said. I was a body shop consultant prior to setting up in salon, i certainly wouldn't use body shop skincare products in salon, i did use the foot care products for a while and had no complaints, quite the opposite, they were really lovely products and very popular with clients. The only products i still use in salon that are body shop is the make-up, and having worked with it for the past 3 1/2 years i still don't have complaints. I offer make up lessons, and application and when i say my kit is mainly body shop they are more than happy as its a name they know and trust.
I have looked into other ranges and when i am able to expand i will be looking into a mineral make up range but at present i'm completely happy with sticking to body shop xx
oh and the brushes are fab too:)

Thanks for all your replies. Its good to know what other therapists think and certainly as clients, what they would think.

Thanks alot guys:lol:

I agree not all Devon salon are like this, sorry did not want to offend

Hope you dont mind but, I personally think Body Shop products are a bit pricey.
You would save more money using the products from the wholesalers.

Do not go down the line on cheap wholesale brands try and go for a premier line that does not make you purchase 2k or 4k there is lots out there and if you look on the threads lots have recently been discussed.
