A friend of a friend recently visited a local salon to have a brow wax and tint. The tint was left on for an hour!! Next day she started to itch and called the salon to complain. She was asked to go there and did with a friend in tow for support. It turned into a cat fight and she left with an offer of 4 1hr treatments as compensation. It's almost 4 weeks later and her brows are still sore. Is there anything she can do?? X

this is terrible why on earth would someone leave an eyebrow tint on for an hour!!

was really shocked when i read that the tint was left on for an hour !
did she do the wax first then the tint?
i think that therapist needs to be retrained!
You should tell your friend to go see her GP that's the best thing to do

She has been to the doctors, he gave her something for it and also told her to take it further but she doesn't want to as 1 of the girls from the place is a friend! X

I don't know if the wax was done b4 or after. She didn't start feeling sore until the next day. Itchy and blisters :0 x

doctors, then insurance claim and i would even go as far to report this to the local authority, health and safety everyone knows you would never leave tint on for an hour this is really poor practice and someone doing this gives us all a bad name:evil:

Having accepted some treatments can she still take it further? X

Having accepted the treatments doesnt mean it's compensation. I would chat with a claims specialist who deal with this kind of thing and see how it stands x

Looks like as well as nails the local NSS are now doing eyebrows..of course they are. What sort of salon are we talking about.Could be worth just contacting environmental health and get them to check standards. No one with any kind of training leaves a tint for an hour.To be honest was a friend of a friend left more like 30 mins or 20 mins. You know how these things go..a bit like Chinese whispers.

you also need to find out if she was given any aftercare advice and if she signed any forms while she was there (you need to find out what they said )
also find out if she had a patch test.

It sounds like she would win if she were to take legal action. the therapist/salon are clearly in the wrong. to be honest they sound really unprofessional

Why oh why would you leave it on this long?!

Did she have another treatment at the same time or something and they just left it on??

Jesus!! Maybe some aloe vera gel would help? Your poor friend :(

It was an hour, give or take a few minutes. There was no patch test given or offered.

She had no other treatment and once the tint was on she was left alone. They must of forgotten she was there! Horrific :0

Has she lost any eyebrows is there likely to be any permanent damage has she had to have time off work etc if so then she should claim. If not to be honest although on this side of the fence we worry like mad we are insured,an actual claim is a bit harder to come by.

Almost 4 weeks later!

Good God!!!!! That looks awful.

She needs advice. Out of interest, did they look hideously dark? The tint would have stopped taking after a while but I've never heard the likes of it!

I bet she waxed first and then put the tint on. Poor thing.

I really don't know I only saw her 2 weeks after the event so no idea how bad it was then! I just cant believe that she is basically letting someone get away with this! The salon owner must be breathing a sigh of relief. I wouldn't let them get away with it myself :0 x

TBH I hate the whole "claim" culture environment we seem to be in atm, BUT this seriously needs to be taken further. Your friends needs to contact the local environmental health department so they can investigate further, even if she does not want to claim. Treatments like this give the WHOLE industry a bad name, and I wonder if the therapist is even qualified, let alone insured!

Your reply got me thinking. Putting aside a claim; I think the client should ask them for proof of insurance and qualifications.
