Hi geeks,

Just a quick Q. I'm going to give s2 a ring tomorrow but thought someone here could help. I'm doing my foundation course and I am rapidly running out of the retention monomer - problem is, I know I cannot purchase the l&p before I qualify. Does anyone know if we can buy the trial size product for the training purposes? Thanks in advance girls and guys

If you are doing your training through a Creative authorised distributor then you should be able to buy stocks from your trainer.

Is this what you meant?

Yes this is right, you can buy it while your training (provided your been trained by an authorised creative educator)
you must have been doing lots of practise hun to get through that so quickly :green:

I have been practising but I've also been disposing of a lot of it because it has been going cloudy. When I was with Wendy in Newcastle she said to get rid of it and start with a fresh lot. I'll order some tomorrow through s2 now...thanks girls

My advice would be to work with smaller amounts and relplenish as needed instead of throwing so much away.

Ok hun,if your monomer is going cloudy you still have product left on your brush. Getting your mix ratio spot on will solve this,in the meantime to avoid excessive waste, wipe your brush before submerging again, and work on your bead practise. hth's hun x

I will do from now on Geeg...I can't believe how much I've had to throw away :irked:

Thanks Becki...I am learning something new every day. I thought I had my ratio right as when I put my first bead down and lift the brush away, the brush is clean. It wasn't when I first tried but I'm improving :green: Onwards and upwards!!

You stick with it Ang, you'll get there hunny!

Can't fault you for starting out the right way & not learning bad habits - just do as Geeg says, put smaller amounts into your dappen dish, then less wastage.
I had already been working as a nail tech for 3 yrs before I did my CND course & I was amazed at how much monomer was put into the dappen dish, then throwing out. It's too expensive, as is any quality product, to waste.

Thanks Bev...I'm still buzzing with everything at the minute! I look back at the practise ones I did last week and I know I'm not perfect in no way, shape or form just yet - but boy what an improvement :green:

Just to say i'm not trying to teach you bad habbits hun (which wiping is) just to help you prevent so much waste ,obviously Gigi's advise is much better ,sorry chick didn't mean to confuse you :o.

Is it mainly after white application ? THAT is the only time i EVER wipe (well glitter etc, after zone 1 iykwim) hth's

Becki, there is nothing wrong at all with your advise. Of course it is perfectly OK to wipe your brush AFTER application and BEFORE taking up more clean monomer form the dappen dish ... keeps the liquid fresh as there are always trace amounts of polymer in the brush even when your mix ration is correct. Perfectly good habit to get into.

An even better habit is to have a gauze pad that is just damp with ScrubFresh to wipe your brush on. The damp pad eliminates monomer odour by 80% because the damp pad draws the monomer into the pad. Using the pad also helps you to wipe your brush away from where you are working so you don't lean onto the paper towel, where you would have wiped your brush, and get monomer onto your wrist (risking skin allergy).

Thanks geeg. That's why you're the educator and i'm not  The more i typed the more i felt i was confusing the poster,it's my pregnancy mush brain (that's my excuse and i'm sticking to it)

Again thanks for clarifying xx

Thanks Geeg  Thanks Becki  I did have it in my mind NOT to wipe my brush but now you have explained it I will do that in between 'beads' so to speak. I'll make sure I don't get into the habit of wiping it whilst sculpting though. Becki..you didn't confuse me :green:

That's a releife Ang .. i confused myself :D x
