hi all, i have just come back from a client that i have started using calgel on ( just clear nno ) i went to do simple infills with 1 repair, around the side walls and cutical area it looked like the product had started to bubble like it does on a soak off ? she had used waitrose non acetone polish remover and re painted with a non pro varnish, it took me forever because when i was trying to file out the infil line the gel was just sort off pealing away from her nail. I have just checked with a nno clear/french client to see how her nails are, she said they are just the same as when i did them, has anyone come accross this before ???? worried !!!

sounds like....

  • she either used something it doenst like (retail her calgel polish remover)
  • you got a bit too near the skin in application
  • prep wasnt thorough enough
could be any of the above!

If you have this - and its just a clear nno - soak it off it it'll take less time than trying to file it down/off.

hi amb. it def looked more like it was bubbling than lifting, and it just kept on coming away whenever i put a file near it !!! could it have been the polish she used after the non acetone remover, i'm crap at selling stuff, gonna hav to get over it!

Not all non acetone free removers are safe for enhancements, as I have found on a couple of clients. For example one brand of enamel remover pads says non-acetone in large letters on the front, but if you look on the back, it says, not suitable for artificial nails (can't remember which make it is) so it could well be the remover. HTH

It could have been anything, i think its safe to say if it wasn't application its definately come into contact with SOMETHING it didnt like.

Is everyone else's ok?

If so.... you need to have a bit of an 'aftercare' educational session with her...or ...try her on a coloured gel:green:

I would def say it was eithe the nail polis or remover she is using - so don't fret.

Tell her not to use it anymore but if she is determined to still paint her nails tell her you can source some calgel nailvarnish + remover and sell her that. That way she shouldn't have any problems. By the way it is bubbling it def sounds like something is eating away at it rather than lifting off through poor application.

thanks girls, have just spoken to a clear/french and she hasnt touched hers since i did them last week and she said they are just as they were then, i have spoken to the prob client ! she said it was waitrose remover and rimmel polish, advised not to use to now and will get her some calgel remover and polish, i bought her a lovery colour gel that she fancied and she decided not not have it !!!! but she will paint on the same colour varnish every time !!!!

Then she may well end up with the same problem ..thats up to her if she wants to wreck her nails shes just paid a lot for, silly woman.Try and get her to buy a calgel nail polish and remover. It will save her money in the long term. She may also be putting on a top coat that doesn't agree ive discovered calgel doesnt like a quick dry one i had.
