What made you train in massage and what qualification did you go for (vtct, itec etc.)?

I got my vtct level 3 certificate in Swedish Massage last year. I adore massage and the benefits it can bring.

I decided to do it as when massaging my husband he would always say that he thought I had a wonderful touch (umm.. maybe I won't go there lol!!) but I must admit I loved the touching and therapeutic benefits it gave both of us. Now when I massage a client I can often get as much out of the treatment as they do.

Working in such close proximity of another person is so rewarding (not in a sexual way but in a comforting way).

I now do Aromatherapy Massage, Hot & Cold Stone Massage and Indian Head Massage and hoping to do Reflexology next year if I am not too busy with everything else I am currently involved with

Now my hubby complains that he doesn't get a massage any more lol!!

Hi Jen

Thanks for the reply, just thought i would ask as im a bit nosy! lol!

an ex-work colleague of mine did her hnc in holsitic therapy and she now works for herself as a massage therapist, loving it and totally chilled out now.

if only we were all so lucky!

I too did VTCT swedish massage, IIHHT aromatherapy massage, etc, etc, etc.

I did do an ITEC reflexology and found that training superior.

Most of my work is massage and reflexology.

I wanted to re-train before my youngest started at school. I've been an auxiliary nurse (and thought about training as a staff nurse) and have always been interested in ''natural therapies''.
In the end I decided to train in Swedish massage (VCTC) as a start in complementary therapies and go on from there. I love working with people and making them feel good ( which I got from nursing too ), but decided I wanted to be in charge of my own destiny, rather than working for the NHS!

I should be qualified in ITEC Holistic massage therapy this summer, fingers crossed,my course includes a&p and everything else in between.Ive always wanted to do massage and healing and I see this as the stepping stone to my next course.

I am starting my vtct level 3 certificate in Swedish Massage in September and plan to do vtct IHM straight after. Think there are two reasons why I wanted to do massage - firstly because of my wonderful experiences with massage and secondly with my husband playing semi professional rugby it would benefit him too.

Mine is part of my HND Beauty Therapy qualification, I did swedish and aromatherapy massage, must say I prefer swedish - dont really get aromatherapy, smells nice but does nothing for me personally.

I trained on the Btec Nat dip Beauty Therapy Sciences and learned Swedish, Aromatherapy and Indian Head routines. They were all part of my course so not optional, but I loved every second of it, I really like the client-therapist touch thing, so being able to offer three diff massages for diff client aims is something I find really satisfying :)

i trained with vtct through my local college for sweedish and aroma loved it was fab!!

Hi,

I learned simply as a vocation, not an income, its because during my travels around the world I've had many therapies and enjoyed an extended deep swedish type massage so I decided to learn and give a little back. If there's anyone in Notts/South Yorkshire who wants to try or swap drop me a line or check out Massage Therapy Trainee

Cheers

I did a Level 3 VTCT about 2 years ago since then i have moved onto reflexology, reiki, indian head, hopi ear candles nail tech and now beauty and it has totally changed my out look on life!

I initially trained at the London College of Massage gaining their Diploma in Therapeutic Massage. Since then I've done Indian Head at the now closed Clare Maxwell-Hudson School and No Hands Massage up to Advanced Practitioner. I am now a trainer for Injury Prevention Massage in the Midlands.

I'm just passionate about massage and the power of touch.

I just decided after a techy career I wanted to do something I would enjoy and I love being on the receiving end as a customer. Then after a couple of ropey treatments I just knew I could do it better and this was my choice.

I am doing my training as a Bachelors at University full time in the States and lasts a year or so initially and quite indepth covering many subjects with clinical experience too.

I may specialise in the more clinical aspects eventually.

I have done the VTCT in Swedish Massage and find it very relaxing for myself when Im undertaking the treatment, as a former nurse it gives me the one to one with clients which was lacking when I too was working in the NHS!

Hi all i too am vtct trained in swedish massage, i was wnadering how you guys advertised and how many massages you do per week and where it is that you do it?? xx

I have just completed my VTCT in Swedish Massage & Aromatherapy Massage and Indian Head Massage and myself when I'm having the treatment done and clients find it very relaxing .

I'm an Ex- nurse to and it also gives me the one to one with clients which was lacking when I was working in the NHS.I wish i took it up years ago as when i ventured into community care ,some of the patients would have loved this treatment.

I took on Holistics\Aromatherapy because i like the benefits it gives, and the use of essential oils for complementary therapies. I too have always been interested in Natural Healing therapies. It also keeps me in the field of work that i am accustomed to.

I do 2 massages per week ,i suppose it depends really on what the client needs it for i.e relaxation,de-stressing or deep muscular.

I did mine as a part of my HND in beauty & holistic therapies, and have since gone on to do various other specialist massage classes in pregnancy massage & so forth. I tend to blend my techniques, and often blend aromatherapy oils for use within remedial massage, sometimes including some aromatherapy techniques as well, and likewise incorporate more remedial & NM techniques in my aromatherapy. Break down the barriers I say & do what's best for the client!
