hi i was wondering how many of you use the opaque powders in l&p, i first started to use it to extend nail beds on short nails and nail biters but now i use it on everybody and cant remember the last time i used a translucent pink powder! do you think its ok to use it this often? xx

Hey what I have started doing is explaining the different look that the opaque gives. I take some pictures with me. Obviously for nail biters I use opaque and explain why. Most of my nail customers want CND radient pink and white enhancements. I also put a bead of opaque and normal acrylic onto a tip so they can see the difference for them selves. Hope this helps xx

Absolutely, many of my clients request and love the opaque powders, as always make sure you perform impeccable prep :)

You can use the opaque powders all the time. The caveat being to make sure that it matches the tone of the client (ie. you wouldn't want to use a warm opaque on someone with cool skintones).

What you can also do, something I love to do, is use both the opaque and the transparent. Opaque in Zone 2 and Transparent in Zone 3, sort of blending them at the zone merge. Buys you time on rebalances.

I think Geeg uses the opaque and paints her white tips on with polish. Thats what I am going to start to do for myself as a matter of fact.

So, in other words, why not? :)

I also tend to use opaque powders all the time now.....definitely always on my own nails. I have a reasonable length of nail bed but I just love to have that little bit more lol!!
There are so many pre mixed colours to choose from now to suit everyone, that I think it is a valuable service to offer in the salon. Not to mention lucrative as you should be charging extra!!
Nfu.Oh recently launched their Cover Foundation colours, 12 opaque powders to suit everybody, and the same 12 colours with glitter added for a little extra shimmer and depth.

They have been so successful that I know that there must be plenty of people out there like us Claire who use them on 99% of their clients!!

I hope its ok lol,
i cant remember when i used pink or clear last either,
i have converted all my clients and they love the fact that they get no gap showing at the free edge as the time comes for their rebalance and the way it makes their nails look so much better

i feel so much better now i know so many of you are using them all the time too... i have been using the CND natural pink on everyone though and not really bothered with the cool and warm.....
using the opaque in zone 2 and normal pink in zone 3 sounds interesting though...what look does this give you? x

it just fades out the opaque pink gradually and the clear pink makes sure you still see the lunula which adds a natural look if you are using a very opaque powder on the rest of the nail.

When I use the opaques using CND opaque powders, I find that in the zone 3 area, if I make the bead just a tad wetter it becomes translucent enough to show the lunula without having to resort to fading out with clear powders. Much easier and quicker.

The best thing about the CND opaque powders is that they have a depth to them already. There is no need to add other things to them to get depth ... so many of the opaque powders I see people using look flat and chalky and very fake looking. The client can also see the regrowth much more vividly with these flat powders and they do not like it.
