Hi everyone,

I had my chest and stomach waxed around 4 days ago. My stomach did fine, but I still have little pimples on my chest. I'm cleaning it 2x a day with a mineral cleanser and loofah (sp?) I've also been extracting them with q-tips. Is this a mistake?

Do you think I should be exfoliating more, with say a salt scrub?

Please help, I want to go to the beach someday again

Yes it is a mistake hun. Dont squeeze them you could end up infecting them or even leaving scars.
These bumps are normal and happen to men up until a few times of waxing.
Are they sore? It's a little hard to advise without seeing them but I would recommend that you don't scrub them until they go down in size and colour.
It is important to exfoliate to stop ingrowing hairs. I just wouldn't do it yet.
Make sure you have a top on in the sun and I don't see the need to clean it twice a day. Once is fine in the shower. Try not to put perfumed products on there.
Hope that helps xxx

It's quite normal to get a break out of spots especially if it's your first wax.
You only need to exfoliate every couple of days and only lightly.
Try gentle exfoliation 2-3 times a week and moisturise daily.
It does get better with each subsequent wax :)

Don't use a loofah to exfoliate it would be harbouring bacteria.salt is a ggod exfoliator just out of the cupboard, little olive oil and a drop of t tree.

Thanks everyone! I will leave it alone! They have gone down and don't hurt. Maybe I was too aggressive with the cleansing. I was just getting nervous because every mention of bumps says they should go away in 24 hours. I am fair (my avatar is me) and I have pretty sensitive skin.

What about moisturizer? I have pure aloe (in case of a sunburn) and a variety of moisturizers. Aloe seems to help.

We used hard wax on my chest and cream on the stomach. Would this have made a difference?

I definitely find the hard wax better on the skin. Aloe is great for calming the skin as it is natural. I keep mine in the fridge.
It is a completely normal reaction you have had and everyone is different as to how long it will last. I am really impressed that you are taking the time to take care of it! After the next couple of waxes it will get better and your hairs will be a lot finer. So stick with it  xxx

This is exactly why I don't tell people to exfoliate as they do it too often and cause ingrowns. Good for you though keeping it under control. xxx

Do you mean because the skin will grow over quicker Kim?
I wonder if I am advising correctly then? For males having this treatment (which are only my male friends) I advise to exfoliate twice a week-gently. But only once the spots have gone away. Would you say this was correct? I was taught in college to tell them 24 hrs after but I personally think that is too soon? xxx

24 hrs was defiantly too soon for me. It's been almost a week now, the hair is back, and I still have some bumps. I assume I have to wait until the skin is perfect to wax again. I 'm trying to get all the hair cycles. Why did I start this in the summer..?!

Oh you poor thing! By the time your hair has grown back, long enough to wax then your skin will be fine. It will be worth it. You will start to see the results after the next 2 I would say (but depending on how thick your hair is)
I started waxing my boyfriends chest and he had exactly the same, bumps and grew back in a week and now he can go every 6 weeks without a wax. The hairs are so much finer too.
Keep it up in the winter too otherwise you are kinda back to square one as the hairs will thicken again xxx
Ps- at least you will know what to expect next time and know how to look after it xxx
