I have just done these tonight.
They are a custom blend in zone 2 & 3 using CND warm with added sparkle & red & orange, with a custom blended colour free edge which I tried to make look like 'Hyde in the Dark'.
It's a NNO.
I can see there is a bit of pink pulled over the odd nail, but she was very happy with them.

I love the custom blend colour on the nail bed. The faint sparkle gives it a bit more 'life' iykwim

Regarding the pink pulled over the smile line, it only looks minimal and this is hard to get right using the traditional zone 1, 2 then 3 method. Try the reverse method of application. It really works a treat with opaque colours and especially with darker tips the smile line will be much much crisper.

My only comment is the shape of the smile lines (I'm just being a bit picky here). I think they would look better if the curve was more gradual down the sidewalls from the top of the ear to the lower centre curve. Not sure if I'm explaining it properly. The depth of the smile is lovely but if you look at the line from the top of the ear it runs almost parallel with the sidewall for a small way before curving in towards the bottom. This makes the smile look a little wide and square. Try to imagine the shape of a half circle and then elongate it slightly into half an oval.

Cheers,
Hazel

Yes, I agree with you about that.
For some reason, I was having a bit of trouble getting the smiles done tonight. But I totally agree, they would be much nicer to emulate the eponychium curve more.
Thanks for that hun:hug:

A certain lovely lady geek on her told me about the adding a bit of sparkle to the CB pink to liven them up and it does work well I think.
You know who you are CD! LOL!

bev love the free edge colour xx (mix please)

the front form and shape of the nails looks lovely, sleek and elegant for the clients natural nails and hands xx
yep you can see where you've come over the grey with the pink on a few nails, did you cap in clear before zone 2&3? I always work zone 1 first no matter what powders I'm using, just try and remember to make the smile line 'higher' as its the start of your apex 'area' and by building that 'wall' you've created that ledge for your zone 2 to butt up to and not over, (brush angle ..again!lol zone one handle down !) you know this!

cb colour is good but maybe you've warmed it up a tad, I think the gold shimmer you've added would have been enough (or the brown if you needed to darken it slightly x) don't think I'm being picky !!!!

all round fab job xxx

Hun, im not too sure about these at all. I have seen you do much, much better nails, I dont know if its the colour or what... Im sorry if you think I am being harsh but the colour on a few of them makes the nails look dead/Plastic. Do you know what I mean? Maybe its the lighting or the camera flash. I find CND warm a bit fake looking on some skin tones, on myself too I cant wear it yet on others its a really beautiful colour.
The smiles are a little inconsitant too but you said you were having trouble with them I know it happens to us all.
I love the sparkle though.
Sorry chick.

Hey Jen - it's OK mate!
I put the pic up here for crtitique and I'm glad you told me what your thoughts are:hug:
I had mixed her a neutral, but when I had it on the brush, it looked waaaay too pale for her nail bed, so I tried a different mix using the warm.
Yes, the smiles are inconsistant on some, I had swopped to my pro styler from my 508 with this set as I wanted to try working with it again. Had a few 'tucking in' issues! My 508 has a nice point & I was trying to make my PS pointier before going into do the tucking, then it was a bit harder as the smiles were starting to set!

Claire - I hear you mate! I did have the little pocket going on on a few of the smiles and when I placed my zone 2 bead and worked it, it slotted lovely up against the smile. It just scares me a bit, that I'll end up with a mountainous apex, and end up filing too much and losing the glitter.
I did not cap this free edge with clear, as it's a mix of CND metro.
Sometimes, in the past, I've capped the FE with clear, and ended up with a bit of a clear line around my smiles:irked:.
When I use other glitters (not CND) I always cap it, but after I've finished my z2&3 application and just cap the clear over Z1 and a bit of Z2....hows do you do yours?

I always thought the the neutral was too pale for me with my olive skin and warm would be what I need but when I did the Tip/Form thing I found the neutral to be just right when it was dry and the warm too orange looking for me. Very strange!:hug: Fingers crossed your brush sorts its teething issues out soon!
