Just wondering if, when you get a client ring up asking for Acrylic nails do you just assume they mean L&P or do you correct them and explain that all nails are Acrylic?

if i did both then i wouldn't go into the whole L&P/Acrylic thing cos i would just assume they meant L&P by the term acrylic, (if people want gel they tend to say gel). But as i only do gel and wouldn't want to lose a client so i usually say .... example

Hi, do you do acrylic nails...?

Yes, the system i use is a acrylic gel.

and take it from there....i don't tend go into more than this unless they ask cos i have found that to be honest they ain't really that interested anymore than i want to know all the ins and outs of how the plumber is going to fix my washing machine...i just want it fixed and they just want nails...

I have had some clients ask more questions about whats involved and how does your system compare to another, in that case i am more than happy to explain. x

I don't correct them on the phone at the first enquiry, except if they make a comment about gel being better than acrylic. Then I say 'well you do know gel is chemically an acrylic, don't you?'...... Generally I wait til I'm in front of them before I start educating them!!

From a phone call saying 'do you do acrylic nails?' I do assume they mean l+p but I don't correct them there and then......

I assume a client means L&P when they ask for acrylic. I don't tend to say anything unless someone says they don't know what they have, then i ask if it is a liquid and powder or a gel that needs to go under a lamp.

Most clients aren't bothered by what they have as long as the nails are good and strong.

Exactly.

I will usually talk to a client about it once they are actually here for their appointment...

But...i have question here, which I may post a new thread in case no one sees this in here...
but I use Creative,,,and a Creative Educator told me that Brisa Gel is the only gel around that is NOT acylic!

What are you views on this?

i always correct clients

i once had a lady who asked for acrylics which i assumed was liquid and powder but she actually wanted fibreglass!

i didn't realise this until i was setting up and pulled out my liquid and powder and she said "oh whats that? the one i have is a mesh and a clear paint on top"

I always explain for the reason that Chantelle has said, I have had a booking thinking that the lady wanted liquid and powder when she actually wanted UV Gel.

If someone asks for ACRYLICS then I do l&p.
If someone asks for gels I do gel.
Most of the time, half of them have no idea about the difference tbh.
My mate asked SPECIFICALLY for a set of gels for Christmas. Halfway through she asked me what the hell I was doing....I said You asked for a set of gels?? She said Oh I meant the thing where you put the paper thing on my nail????? and then you get the coloured water and the powder stuff?....
At that point I did hit her with a file, not professional but she's a mate and I really did want to kill her:eek::lol:

ive found alot of NSS have been claiming they are using gel, but when i question the clients they have actually had liquid and powder.

I try not to intimidate them too much first go !!!
But eventually educate them gradually face to face.

i think a lot of times when they ask if you do acrylic nails, they are really just asking if you do nail extensions .

occasionally there are people who ask specifically for gel nails usually because they have the misguided belief that they are better for you than acrylic nails.

i often explain to clients during the appointment that the products are related in their chemistry. and try to do my best to dispell myths about acrylic and nail extensions in general.

LOL... what a coincidence... LCN is a ' light cured gel resin' that contains no acrylic either....and they too claim they are the only ones producing a gel with no acrylic! (so funny how they all think they are the ONLY ones...)
