hi i started the en tip and overlay course in oct, but i am having a few problems with the product application its just not going well at all, i sit for hours watching the dvd with my nail trainer. its tearing me apart i just simply can't get to grips with it, has any other en geeks felt the same? i want to do this but feel as though i am wasting my time. i said in an earlier post that i thought that this type of course was best for me due to family commitments.

Personally, I found the skill of doing nails hard enough to learn when I had an educator looking over my shoulder to correct all my mistakes!!! I could not have learned my trade from a dvd becaue without knowing what I was doing wrong how could I correct it? Maybe you need classroom education, I know this isn't what you want to hear but maybe EN isn't for you?

You sound really fed up, I feel for you

Hi Sarah hun ive just sent you a pm and also an invite to join the EN group.:hug:

Hi sarah, I did my l+p course with en and I did struggle a bit with certain bits but with lots of practice I got the hang of it. Saying this tho I did the course about 4yrs ago and what I have seen and learnt since really made me wish I had done a creative course, Like u i at the time thought this was the only way for me to do a nail course as it would fit in around my children and it did that so I would say to u stick with it and phone the tutors they r really helpful even if u keep ringing them better todo this than to sit there not getting anywere but do keep in mind that this really does just teach the basic and if u can later down the line try and do a class course .hope this helps ;)

hello im doing 2 en courses although i will say taking forever with 3 kids !!! it is very frustrating but don't give up go away and come back to it ,, my handrea's favorite trick is for the nails to ping out across the table when im filing:irked:

But you know what they say rome wasn't built in a day just keep going maybe we can help each other through the course !!:smack:

hi thank you for your replys, i'm finding it particularly hard to just get a half decent finish in the acrylic without fillingfor ages afterwards, the suffering from airbubbles not to mention smilelines but i guess that will come with loads of practise, i know its not just 'going to happen' but feel as though i am getting no where. i'm thinking of a new brush as maybe its just me but feel as though its too small and its a bit feathery if you know what i mean,(i'm not blaming the brush) i havent phoned the tutours as the first time i did not get the answer to what i was asking i just didn't feel very comfortable, being honest its been a very disapointing experience especially to me its quite alot of money to pay upfront.

What size of brush is it that you are using Sarah? When I get a new brush it takes me a wee while to train it iykwim. If you are getting bubbles in your l&p it sounds as if your ratio may not be right.

Please don't be offended by this but this is a prime example of when a classroom based environment would probably benefit you.

Try not to get too dis-heartened, we are here to help

No problem, just wondered if the size of the brush was perhaps affecting the size of bead that you are picking up, as until you get used to your brush and your ratios, it can be tricky, so therefore perhaps using a smaller brush may help you until you have got your ratio and bead consistancy correct.

Hi hun i did pm you to offer help!!

Sorry, but am I missing something here?

As far as I am aware this is an open site, where we as professionals offer advice to each other.

I am now thinking that that the EN techs have their own wee group going on which is fine but, I am sure there are a lot of EN techs that sign in here or view the boards that are not aware of this.

I trained initially with EN but indeed in a classroom environment before I went onto, well what can I say, better companies. I freely offer my advice and do not limit it to people in a group.

I have also trained with some of the best in the business and would never limit that knowledge to a chosen few, getting my drift?

A lot of money, blood, sweat and many many tears and I am willing to share that with the www.

One question....... where are the the EN educators on here? You are willing to sell your product but where are you?

Please do not be offended by this as it is not my intention just my thoughts and you can accept or disregard as you please.

I think this issue has come up on a few threads recently, with people PMing info that would be better shared. If someone has issues, isn't it better to share the information/remedies/support, so that these will be a resource to others who may have the same difficulty later and be able to solve it simply by doing a search?

I know there is an EN Social group, as there are CND, Ezflow etc, but some of the questions that have been asked on this thread and the others I am recalling are not "brand specific" as such, and should be on the threads, rather than being answered in PMs.

I hope this is taken in the way it is intended, as I have always been able to find wonderful support and information on the threads and on this site, and I want everyone to be able to continue to do so.

Some people prefer to pm to offer help, some people prefer to offer help on the thread and some people like to do a bit of both...and some people like to say nothing!...why should you have a problem with this that is their perogative not yours! Everybody on this site shares and contributes with another...one way or another.

There are many groups on here which anyone can join at any time.....CND lovers.....ezflow....essential nails....they are nor secret private places...they are open to all...those that dont know about them straight away will discover them at some point im sure! Like a lot of other things on this site.

JFYI I too pmed the thread starter rather than contributed to the thread....partly because I get annoyed with others getting on their high horse about EN and I dont wish to get into a debate about it....we all know its better to be in a classroom environment etc etc but either way its hard work...I have done classroom based course as well as EN....either way the majority of the hard-work blood sweat and tears are done at home alone!

Point taken BUT

On many occassion EN geeks have got alot of stick on this site with people making judgment on them doing an EN course and learning via dvd!!

Hence the reason why I set up the group so that they could ask other EN techs who have done the course and WILL NOT JUDGE THEM for the choice that they have made!! So many times i see EN trainees asking advice and all they get in is told that they should take a class room course!!

I will freely post answers to questions on the forum BUT on this occasion sent a PM purely as i wanted to offer more than just advice.

I totally agree. I've said before that those who put EN down have probably not even taken a course with them. Just because classroom training works for them doesn't mean it works for everyone else. I love EN. I've just passed the art course (with a distinction) and I'm waiting for my acrylic course to turn up today and I can't wait.
Also there are some people on here that think they know everything and that they are better than everyone else.
