I have just applied some cluster extensions to my long suffering daughter:D. I've used Salon Systems and applied medium to the outer corners and and short to mid and inner corners. Then I trimmed them in the inner corners to blend in with natural lash line.

Took me about half an hour in total and Ive applied about 10 lash clusters to each upper eye lid trying to get them as close as possible to the base of the lashes without touching the skin.

This is my first set and I know what I think of them but would like your critique please skin geeks, as it can only help me improve.

Big thank you to Katelisa for her advice. Really appreciate it.

Go for it. I'm a big girl !

My daughter is going to wear them for me so I'll have to wait and see how long they last. They will probably be out by the morning, knowing my luck, PMSL .

They look awesome!!! I would be happy with those.

only thing i can really see is the right one looks a bit more sparse going to the inner corner, you can see where you have got two clusters stuck on. This is something you need to try and avoid and keep it looking seamless IYKWIM.

From the top view you could actually put more cluster in between thos that are there, fur a fuller effect. you could even use the size smaller, just to give fullness at the base if u get me. It looks like you have used long med and small, is that right?!

I also sometimes use a 'mini' right in the inner corner, just to give that darkness to make it all look even. And i will usually tint them beforehand too.

if you have some strip glue this is good to practice with, as you can pull them off easily afterwards. If you have some you could try filling the 'gaps' with a few more and see how it looks!!

Hope that helps hun. But overall, VERY good first attempt!!! :D

Not if you've used my sandwich technique!! lol. Because they are attached to more lash!! ;)

oh also, how old is your daughter?!

a nice shape and tint on those brows would really set off the lashes!!! I'd have pinned her down to do it long ago, they are so perfect for just a little tweaking!! lol.

Ah thanks Kate. I do see what you mean. I used medium for outer corners and short for inner as that is all I had. I wanted to practrise first before spending more money.

I did use your sandwhich technique lol. It made sense to, but I was a little worried that this flattened the glue into the lashes which made the knot look more pronounce IYKWIM. I used a dark glue though.

I agree, my daughters brows needs tidying and tinting again. She is only 14 but as I'm her mom I can give consent  and she's had a patch test. I have a friend from college coming to visit this week as she wants to practise brow waxing so my daughter is yet again the long suffering guinea pig .

Few more questions please then I'll shut up :smack:?

So you would tint first? Is it possible to tint after so all the colur is uniform or is this not recommended?

Can or should mascara be worn over these extensions?

What eye make-up remover would you recommend? I know it needs to be oil free but the only good brands I know are oil based?

My daughter wanted me to apply extensions to the bottom lashes, but I thought this would look wrong. What do you think?

Thanks again x

I didnt think it looked noticeable at all to be honest!! you can get lashes WITHOUT the bulb now though, by salon systems, called 'ultra' i think!

Yes definately tint first, it makes sure the lashes are nice and product free aswell! The clusters will not tint as they ae made of plastic!! (so be careful of heat as it can make them curl up lol)

I use a loreal eye make up remover (blue liquid), at home and in the shop. Its the only non oily one i have found that gets off all the make up! But to be honest i wouldnt put mascaa n them anyway, they dont raly need it!!

You can apply lashes to the bottom, you can use 'mini' or some lashes come with a row of 'underlash' on them. the ultra are good for this as they dont have the bulb!!

i think they look fab!!
well done

Thanks for all the info Kate. Thank you Lotus blossom. This has really encouraged me to keep practising. Much appreciated. x

and kate am off for a look about your "sandwhich technique " :green:

Ooh! They look lovely! I want a set :green:

Great 1st try hunny :)

xx

Wow I love them, I want them, where can I get them please.:)..Since I had my eyes done my eyelashes have gone as well ..

They look great! The only thing I can suggest has been suggeted before, perhaps a couple of mini going into the inner corner and tinting the eyelashes beforehand so all the lashes blend in together and no mascara needed.
Then again I am not an eyelash extension expert, I have seen them done often by a girl I used to work with who was trained in it, and I have tried to do them on myself once (they irritated my eyes quite a bit and I took them out after two days, perhaps it was my technique?). I have never been trained myself (although after seeing our efforts and how beautiful your daughters eyes look I really want to learn properly!).
On that note (and I hope you don't mind me adding this into your thread, I think maybe since you are just starting out you will find answers to these questions useful too?!) in Australia we have so many different lashes for eyelash extensions, ranging from very cheap (around $8.00 per packet plus $12.00 for glue) to very expensive (around $300.00 for a set with glue, a packet of lashes and lash remover). What is the difference? And are clusters or singles better to use?

you need to do a seach really hun, and if you dont find what you are looking for then post a new thread. but there is LOADS on here about the pro's and con's of both.

posting a new question in someone elses thread wont really get you the answers you want unless its a thread discussing what you are also askin. (whereas this thread is askng for critique).

hope that helps hun.

Yes you're right Katelisa!! Sorry for Hiijacking your thread Mrs Clooney, I didn't mean to take away from the real reason you posted it - for a critique - and it was actually quite rude of me so I apologise! Ignore my Q's and I'll get round to posting a new thread as I should have!!

P.S. I really think you did a great job and if you didn't say it was your first time I wouldn't have known myself :)

I have nice natural eyelashes, but let me friend practice this on me. Initially i liked it, but have lost patients with it all as they fall off all the time. I gave up using traditional false eyelash glue to restick the odd cluster back on as it's like Copydex glue and it doesnt dry clear, no matter what the packet says. Then bought my own salon systems black glue to re stick the odd cluster back on, however i dont find this glue is much good either, it sticks them on but it doesnt hold and within 24hrs comes loose/hanging off again! Im tempted to have Jinnylash done but think £80 a go is a joke I cannot believe they are that good to justify spending that amount of money. Also the cluster ones are bit like flies on your eyes, nice fr a one off nite out or special occasion but ive worn them for over a month now and have found my nice natural eyelashes now look like **** as the clusters/glue have taken alot of my lashes with them. will not bother with them again. would rather use a good quality mascara :irked:

It sounds as though the lashes are either being applied or removed incorrectly.

I applied my own lashes 2 fridays ago, and have just removed them this weekend. none had fallen off, nor did they take out my natural lashes wen i removed them. (I only took them off because i stupidly used lash curlers on them, dont ask why lol, and they had a bend rather than a curve!!)

so i would say look at the application / removal and make sure its being done properly!!

Very nice.
I have been trained in the Salon System range of eyelash extensions.

I tend to use them only on the outer corners of my lashes, but what you have done does look great.

Must rake mine out the drawer and have another go with them. Might get some takers.

I did the course 2.5 yrears ago & not had a paying client for them yet, but maybe that's because I don't wear them often enough myself.

I found they tend to last me the weekend btw.

I followed Kates advice (and I see she has just added a tutorial, Thank you Kate!) and I only lost one cluster. The rest stayed put after my first attempt. Are you using the right glue ie. the one for individual or clusters and not for strip lashes? Personally I would not have used copydex on any area of the face.

Removing the artificial lashes with the correct solvent is effective. No mess not fuss. I was really encouraged.
