Feel awful, lost all confidence and ready to pack it all in. Trained to be a nail tech 5 yrs ago using star gels, acrylics, and nsi gels. Havent done it for 2 years asked to set up again in local hair salon went on some refesher courses through sallys but am getting nowhere fast. Cant get to grips with gels or acrylics although only using mercia acrylic at the mo. Justs received nsi balance gels trial packs gonna try them. Also just got info on cnd course, though not sure which to take and wether to go back to foundation level. My blending and preping are okay just having trouble with products everything seems to have changed in last couple of years or is it just me???? Confidence at rock bottom when I compare myself to before, I could do full sets of gels in about an hour and my airbrushing was great, even that has taken a battering. Should I perservere?? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi dont give up I use nsi balance gels and clients love it can go 3 weeks for infills its a great gel, I also love the nsi attraction acrylic I am totaly converted to nsi now, speed comes with time you will get back into it in a few weeks.:)

I would ring cnd youll have the number from the info you have recieved and speak to them explain everything you have written on here.. to them, and i am sure they will have something to suit you....whether it be starting again or just speding time 1 on 1 to get your skills / confidence back up too par.....i reckon that is your best bet hun.
no matter what job we do...if we have time out from it...we all need a little training to get back up too speed..no matter what career :hug:

Don't panic & don't lose your faith in nails hun!

Over the last couple of years NSI have changed their L&P, as I used to use it before I used CND & it's so much different.
Can't comment on gels, but I will say that the better the quality, the easier the products are to work with.
It could be the products & not you.
If I was you, I'd get my ass on a CND conversion course, for which ever system you feel more comfortable with.
This way, you'll get the info on how to work with the products & get on so much better.

You'll be fine I'm sure. Just a little out of practise. xxx

I would advise to do a conversion course with CND and while there ask the training ambassador if she thinks you need to follow on with a skill builders class,
the skill builders class concentrates on the areas that you yourself are not feeling happy about hth
they will soon have you and your confidence back on top form

Thanks for that. Just feeing like Ill never get back on track.. I have got a couple of clients coming back and their nails are lasting, had a few that have not been great though. I know i need more practice and definately anoter couple of training courses. Been looking at this site for a couple of weeks now before i plucked up courage to come on. I must admit the amount of info and the advice you guys give is amazing, I feel loads better after coming on here and reading all the posts. Ive even bought gigis book which i must admit has been a godsend!!!!! Keep up all the good work you lot :)

Hi Honey

My Advice is put the products down slowly back away from the table and take a nice big deep breath.

I think you are trying to do far to much to quick with different products which all work in different ways. Which is only adding to the fact that your skill has not been in use for a number of years and is a little out of practice.

The Best advice I can give you as both a college lecturer and educator for a nail company is, to firstly do your homework checkout the big name companys ( Young Nails, CND, NSI and EZflow) you cant go wrong with these guys.

When you have chosen one then do a conversion with them and I am sure you will find a great differance not only in products but in the the training and support

hope this has been of some help

Thanks again.

Definately gonna get on a course asap, once Ive spoke to them, Hopefully it will just be a conversion course I need. I think i really need to concentrate on one thing at a time though. Like you say trying to do everything at once need to slow down and remember its a while since i did it, cant just walk back in and expect to pick up where i left off..... Feel better already :lol:
