Following on from Mrs Clooney's thread about Miners nail enamel I was thinking about brands that we used to know and love.
In the 70's I used to love Helena Rubenstein's Apple Blossom perfume, and their lip colours too. I used to wear jam jar bottom specs and got my first pair of contact lenses in 1980 at the age of 17. For the first time in my life I could wear sunglasses, starting a lifelong love of them. My very first pair were Goggles "greatest shades ever made"!
In the 80's I was a true devotee of Charles of the Ritz skincare which I bought from Dingles in Salisbury. Despite the rather snooty counter lady I trudged there month after month in the hope that one day I might look like their poster girl!
Post up your long lost favourites!

I miss Yardley of London's make up and nail strengthner! I used to go to Hudson's (now Macy's) when I was about 12 (WAY back in the 60's) and buy their Lemonade flavored lip gloss. It was in a tube and it's the best gloss I've ever used.

Also, the nail strengthner was in a frosted glass bottle and I can still remember the smell of it. I LOVED Yardley of London and I miss them!

Another thing I miss is Impulse Body Spray! I used to get that from my local drug store back in the 80's. I loved their Musk and Innocent scents!

Great thread, BTW! :)

I always used to wear a perfume called Ispahan from Yves Rocher.
Suddenly they stopped doing it and started doing one called Rose Ispahan which i didn't like.
Every now and then they bring Ispahan back. They say- 'back by popular demand for a limited period'.
If it's so popular why only bring it back once in a blue moon?
Haven't seen any for ages now
Oh well i've found Cinnabar now from Estee Lauder instead :)

Can you not still get impulse? I loved it when we were about 10-12 cos it was like perfume for us lol...used to love it. Im sure you still gte it but the flavours aren't as good anymore :(

No, Impulse is no longer available in the US. :irked:

I have however, found it on the website www.foodireland.com but I haven't ordered it as I'm not sure the scents are the same.

Yes, I thought you could still get Impulse too??
Does anyone remember Innoxa make-up?
I used to like a perfume by Mary Quant called Green Apple, must have been around in 1975 or something like that. Then I matured and went onto Charlie (YUCK)
Also Boots 17 peel-off face masks . . . probably did absolutely nothing for your skin!
This thread is great btw, Lynne!

Yes you can still get Impulse. My 12 year old daughter Billie wears it all the time. They have quite a few different ones.

Denim aftershave it was such a lovely change from Brut and Old spice.

I want to know what happened to cheese flavoured Snaps!
You can only get tomato flavour now and i loved the cheese flavour!

I loved spangles, Always used Anne French Cream to take my makeup off.

I used Anne French too but the milk.

In the late 80's I used to use a lipstick from Debenhams (I think) it was a deep pink, but when it went on it was frosted and stained the lips, lovely lol can't remember the name of it tho :(

OMG spangles, I loved them along with lucky numbers.

I used to have a favourite perfume when I was in my teens and it came in a yellow box but I cannot for the life of me remember what it was.

Not Chic was it?
The sister of my first serious boyfriend used to wear that and I thought it was really sophisticated, probably because she was older than me ( she was about 20 I must have been 17 ).
And SMITTY! As someone mentioned above . . wow, I'd forgotten about that.
Also can you still get Harmony Hairspray? who remembers the ad - is she or isn't she??

Those flavoured lip glosses in the glass roller tube...mmmmm loved them...

Bit off topic but whats happened to orange aeros/areos (cant spell it, its late) lol ????

I grew up in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) and as we had international sanctions imposed on us, many foreign goods were unavailable. However, one thing we could get was 'French Lace' parfume. I drowned myself in the stuff :o. What a stink .

We also had a bath product called 'Skinny Dip'.

I remember these! Really brings back memories, lol!

Yes French Lace used to wear that - also Stowaway and Eau Jeune. What about Just Musk - anyone remember the ad with Pat Coombes saying 'it shouldn't be allowed'!!

My favourite product I miss was called Pretty Feet, a roll on that got rid of hard skin - no pumice or grains, it was really smooth. I would buy that now if it got re-launched.
