Hi there!!!!
Ladies,it's seem to me I have a problem and it really makes me feel frustrated... I SO afraid to make my client bleed performing manicure or pedicure that my hands start to shake very badly when I take nippers to do a cuticle work(as if I had horrible hangover ...) I didn't actualy cut anybody(yet:)..) but if I do I'll be literaly unconsious at once! and my poor client will stay with my breathless body and bleeding fingers...What a picture!!! and my shaking hands...it is just so embarrassing!
....did anybody ever cut his client?

I would suggest using a curette for cuticle work instead of nippers. HTH! :)

I no longer use nippers at all hun. Just a good cuticle pushie will do the job perfectly,
We were taught to nip in college But since coming here I have realised it is actually better NOT to,

The cuticle is only the none living tissue attached to the nail plate,
I think by the fact you are worried about making the client bleed, you may mean the eponychium,
Nipping or cutting this can actually encourage it to grow thicker, its the body's natural defense.

By the client using a good home care system such as CND cuticle eraser and solar oil a few times daily, plus regular manicures.
This should no longer be a problem within a few weeks.

Here is a thread to have a read of hun x

I am answering this without reading ANY replies as yet. Why do you use nippers then??? Surely a Pushi and Curette / Probe do the job perfectly without having to 'nip' anyone at all??

i dont ever use my nippers.....never needed to to be honest. Sorry i have lied i used them once....and that was to nip some subborn tissue away that wouldnt come off the nail plate...but i probably didnt need to use them. i just use my pushie tool and thats it to do all my prep work...thats all i need

I was exactly the same during my training as we were taught to nip the eponychium but as I had never ever had that done to me before then I just couldn't face it. It was my 'weak area' in training as I simply wouldn't do it. Since coming to the forum I now know its a no no and so I simply dont do it. Problem solved.

Just don't do it, even if you have been trained to

OMG!!! I had exactly the same problem wen training in mani and pedi! I am not squimish in any way could never understand why people said they felt faint...however i picked up my nippers opend them over my client and nearly fell off my chair!!!!! Havent used them since!!! Use pusher and creative cuticle erase!!

I only ever nip stuff that is flapping in the wind so there would be no chance of cutting the client. If yur worried about cutting the client your probably trying/wanting to nip stuff that shouldnt be nipped!

I just use my EZ Flow pro pusher, which means i never have to cut the cuticle area at all. The only time i nip is when a client has been picking and there is a flap of skin that if pulled will just end up in a nasty sore area, which will bleed.

My Pro pusher is great for this and gets rid of all non living tissue and any un wanted dead skin.

Pretty much ditto this, but I do use my nippers a lot more than I used to, mainly because I have become more confident with them. I do explain about how the skin will grow straight back and that as it is nothing more than dry skin that the REGULAR use of solar oil will stop it coming back again ... I nearly always sell a bottle ( and I tell them how it's great for dry elbows, scars, mosquito bites ... it's a regular miracle in a bottle!)

The other thing is invest in a damned good pair! It really is worth the money. Mine are from Batten Edwards and are so sharp that they give a good clean cut. Often the problem stems from blunt nippers and so you end up have pull at the skin thus ripping it off the client rather than cutting it!

I hate nippers too there awful looking things and not necesary either i use cuticle remover and push back the cuticles xx

I never use them for the actual cuticle work, but they do come in handy now and again for removing a zonking great hang nail, which is begging for the client to give it a good tug, there for resulting blood shed and a very sore finger!:)

Oh, thanks a lot for all your replies!!
Maybe I'm a bit of "old -fashioned" , I was tought to use this terrible thing as a MANE procedure during ped. & manic.... But it seems like it not always nesassery, and I simply need to buy better cuticle erase. You made me feel so much better!
Emmsybabes, thank you for that link:)
