good going girl!!!

final weigh in next week!!

1 week to go ahhhh so much to do

and ladies - we started this thread as a positive thing - we agreed we wouldn't lecture people that we would each do it in our own way and be non judgemental

i think the point about healthy sensible eating has been well and truely made several times so we can drop it now

sometimes you have to respect others decisions even though it may not be 'whats right'

speaking as someone who used to be extremely overweight - the quick fix diets give you a glimmer of hope and are often a way to kickstart what leads to a healthy long term diet

it just often progresses that way

so we're gonna stay positive here as we have one week to go till we are the champions of our own bodies yeaaaaa:lol:

There was actually a programme on about quick fix diets and they said that if followed for a short period they could be benifitial to health provided the dieter was also educated about a long term healthy eating plan. Each to their own I say, although I couldn't train for a half marathon and do all tge exercise I do on 450 cal I think it's fine as long as the dieter knows its not a long term solution.
Good luck everyone :) don't think I will hit my 10lb target but am feeling much better about the way my outfit for a he'd do next week fits ;)

Hen do..bloody fat thumbs lol

Well said Hun weight loss is always a tricky subject isn't it and quite right peoples ways of loosing weight need to be respected.

I don't care how people loose there weight it's just nice to hear peoples experiences and how there doing.

It would be a shame if peoples feelings are being hurt and that's not nice especially as some feel bad enough about themselves without the lectures.

Anyway geeks well done to all and roll on next week the weigh in is a day before my birthday and 2 days before I go out.x

Well done doing fab!!

I weighed last Fri and had lost 2lb wasn't totally impressed but I had run 5 days out of 7 so I know I had probably firmed up rather than lost the amount of weight I had expected. Having said that though this week I feel like I've lost weight! My belly is smaller and I just feel good. I have been using my fitness pal and logging my food religiously this week so hoping that it will help and I am really trying hard to stick to good food, though had a blip last night as we went to cinema and I had a few sweets :( in all though I'm mentally and physically feeling good, which for me is a bonus! I'm not weighing now till next week as I've decided to just do it once a month (if I can stick to that) as I think with the training I'm doing its going to show better over a month rather than a week!

I just want to point out that we are all individuals and we all struggle with our weight (if not we wouldn't be posting on this thread) and how we choose to loose weight is our choice and we choose to do it in the way that suits us best. It is not for other to judge, unless of course that was by not eating anything then we need to act as that person may need help but that's a whole different ball game. I personally have tried every diet under the sun from cabbage soup to detox to slimming clubs, as a result I have finally realised the only way to loose weight and actually keep it off is to have a healthy balanced diet with plenty of excersice it's sticking to it is the problem as bad food is just so nice :)

Good luck and keep going in whichever route you choose x

After I had my middle child I was living close to an eating disorder I dropped 4 stone in 10 weeks by just stopping eating. I lived on 1 bowl of cereal and skimmed milk a day, plus loads of black coffee. Probably not best as I was also breast feeding (never seemed to affect my milk supply, I exclusively fed for a year!) when I finished breast feeding I started taking laxatives, up to 12 a day, on the days u was t running. I just hated the idea of any food being in my body :( I dropped to 8 1/2 stone which whilst not underweight for my height is underweight for me as I am heavy boned and carry lots of muscle.
Luckily two things happened at once the first is I discovered I was pregnant, the second was (now this doesn't sound lucky) I developed pluresy (painfull lung infection) this was lucky as it meant eating was taken out of my hands. My partner and mum in law were bringing me regular meals which if I didn't eat they would lecture me about my babies health! This coupled with a great go who promised not to send me to hospital if I started to look after myself lol ;)
As a consequence my metabolism is screwed, I can gain half a stone in two days without trying. It takes ages for me to lose even a lb!
I will never go back to those dark days of lying in bed and feeling rejoiced as I was so hungry my tummy was hurting and I thought it was a good thing that I had to sleep with a pillow between my knees and under my hips to stop my bones digging in! I will never go back to weighing myself 8-10 times a day :(
This is why I am doing this the slow and steady way :)

I'm really sorry but I did not ask or you opinion, I'm on hear for support the same as everyone else not to be made to feel bad. I eat to loose 2 stone by April I do not care how it done and if it was that unhealthy it wouldn't be on he NHS top 10 diets. I don't really care weather I put it back on as much as I want it off now, to see some people I haven't seen in a long time. May I ask if you are over weight if your not you shouldn't be on this thread and if you are then your not a very good nutritionist and should practise what you preach.

I was trying to help you by offering a professional opinion. I joined this thread as I am a qualified personal trainer and nutritionist with specialist qualifications in weight loss & I was offering help, free of charge, to fellow geeks.
I am not overweight & do practice what I preach & I assure you I am an excellent nutritionist & work for the NHS running weight loss courses, as well as working for several GP's who send me private referrrals.

I did say in my post that I was not having a go at you. I was trying to help you lose weight & keep it off & look & feel great for life. I was never in any way rude to you....I think I was the exact opposite by offering professional help at no cost to you. I have gained a lot of professional 'beauty' advice free of charge, from this site & thought that I would give something back to my fellow geeks......thats why I joined the thread.

I was not lectuing anyone, but if I know that something is extremely unhealthy I, as a professional will point this out & offer an alternative way to deal with it. The same as any, nail, hair or beauty professional would do if offering advice about a dangerous practice that was being carried out.

Had a personal training session today. I made it through the full hour so I am looking at that as a positive thing. I am still eating healthy and I feel like my clothes are a bit looser. I haven't yet weighed myself as I am waiting until next week. Whether I lose 1 or 15 pounds I am going to continue on eating healthy. This is the best I have felt in a long time. I feel energized and just plain good about myself.

totally agree with this

and think that the mental and emotional benefits of being on track are the most important thing

letting go of the guilt and fat feelings and embracing the positivity and boost of hormones that comes from healthy eating and exercise is amazing

i get such a release from hard exercise

just done a kick boxing session and feel so relieved of all the sluggishness and low energy i felt today

girls we are making such great changes what a fabulous way to start 2013

i love reading all your stories and achievements

Not impressed had sudden and unexpected snowfall tonight which has put an end to my running plans for the night :( It's just not worth risking a broken limb or even death (and yes I mean that after my rather nerve racking journey home from work) just to go for a run! So I did some ab work instead and have indulged in one or 10 choccys and a drink or three :(
Hopefully roads be clear tomorrow for me to get out there oh and will eat better too lol

Jumping on your thread. If it weren't for this site I would of been asleep three hours ago!

I'm 5ft 5in. 15st 4lb on New Year's Eve. Dress size 16/18.

Weighed myself tonight and I've lost 5lb. Although I was fully clothed with a heavy jacket on and I'd just had two brews.

Getting married in October 14. My aim is to loose 2 stone this year and then hit it hard and aim for the same next year but in a shorter space of time.

I met my fiancé 3 years ago and was 11 and a half stone. Would love to be back down to that for the wedding (ideally less!)

Ive not set myself a strict target. That's 2.5lbs every month which I know is very achievable but I didn't want to set my goals too high Incase I do have a bad month.

My mother in law to be has just got her 6stone award from slimming world..she started last jan and is looking amazing..just goes to show that the hard work does pay off!!

Stick with it ladies xx

hey chick go slimming world yourself!!

you have a bit to lose and they will be a great help

i started with them , now able to do my own thing

and ive 5 stone 3 1/2 off

my sister got married in november

in march we went looking for a dress

as she tried one on she burst out crying because she felt so fat and knew the dress didnt look good

i consoled her and the next day gave her the honest chat lol

i told her 'i know you're not a group person and sw is cheesy but you must go, it will help you, go'

she did, lost over 3 stone by the wedding day and dropped from an 18 to a toned 12, we went back in may got her a stunning dress and she looked and felt amazing on the day, it has transformed her

i pushed her to change her dress sense and now she wears lovely fitted clothes and looks fabulous

she got married in same hotel as one of my brothers did 2 years ago

at the time i was busting out of a size 20 felt like an ugly animal and had lost all sense of sexiness and attractiveness

2 days after that i had my wake up call - was staying in glamorous hotel walking back to room at end of nite and there was a mirror next to lift

i seen this girl - this really fat girl.... and then i realised it was me

the shock of that stayed with me... i can still see her and even makes me cry a little bit to thing of her as things had just got so desperate with my weight

i was on verge of gastric band but something clicked maybe a little glimmer of hope so i started my long hard journey with sw

and what kept me going was knowing - i had no alternative - that there were no other choices or sololutions or opportunities

the journey was nightmareish, mentally to keep going i put myself through hell

i hear people say about weight dropping off them and how easy sw is

and makes me bitter laff lols because every pound i dropped i killed meself for

fast forward to sisters wedding - i was bridesmaid and felt phenomenal

just stunning

we were getting out photographs taken

and one of my brothers said to me "god you look amazing when you think of the whale you were before".... and i roared with laughter because i knew it was true and i was delighted that i was a toned hot size 12 slimmer thinner than id ever been in life before... the whale had sank.. and i was now a happy littleish mermaid

i'm on wk 3 of slimming world and have lost 7lb in 2wks.

when you first read the book its confusing. but read it again and its starts to come clear!

the main one in my eyes is organisation. will be out lunch time so about to do a tuna pasta salad to take with me. ready made sandwiches are full of calories and fat and not filling.

if anyone is interested there's a 7day plan free on their website
