ok so this is basically regarding my previous post about nails lifting, i bought the edge cuticle remover and it seemed to work pretty well.
I did a full set of acrylics on saturday and the girl phoned me back literally like 15 minutes ago and she told me her nails were ALREADY lifting :/ i really dont understand im doing all the prep correctly ... removing all of the dead cells off the natural nail ect ... and she said they are lifting already !!! i told her to come back into the shop tomorrow and i will see what i can do for her. I dont know what i can do for her as i dont know if she means they have actually lifted of the nail plate or if there is slight lifting at the sides. I didnt get any acrylic on the skin so i now dont know what to do !!!!

Did you remove the cuticle remover enough? If not this could cause the enhancements to lift almost instantly....

yeh im sure i did. I just dont know what to offer her when she comes in tomorrow ???

How did you remove? Water and tiny drop of soap?
When you prep what do you cleanse the nailplate with? Do you have a prep-booster, who dries out the plate a bit more?

Sorry to answer with questions, it's just so hard to say what the problem is, without seeing your procedure...

no worries about all the questions :) i removed it by wiping the nail plate with the cleanse and dehydrate i cant remember what the name of it is but its by star nails. prep-booster ?
i trained at college and we clearly didnt get the correct training. :)

Ok. With the cuticle remover I use, I need to remove with water and a tiny drop of soap (I use a spray bottle, and a washcloth)
If you only wiped it away with a dehydrator, and only once I suspect some of it could have been left on the nailplate. (I would remove with tissue and then cleanse a few times with new wipes, if I didn't use water)

By a prep- booster I mean somthing that does a little extra with those lift-prone clients. If I have one I use the scrupfresh-nailfresh-scrubfresh thing, and sometimes also acidfree primer. It's a bit hard to explain, the scrubfresh would be your cleanser/dehydrator, and the nailfresh would be something that dehydrates just a bit more...

Make sure you really cleanse the nailplate next time, and if you don't normally use a prime, maybe give it a go (if theres one within the system you use)

I hope this can help a little bit:hug:

im going to go buy a spray bottle from somewhere and do the soap and water thing you do :) and i've heard about that scrubfresh and nailfresh so i think i will buy some of that aswell lol. Yeh i use the nsi primer, i use it sparingly on the nail plate after the nail tip is stuck on.
Thanks for your help :)

You are very welcome, I wish you luck with the client.

If you buy the scrupfresh, remember that you should relly scrub with it. It's worth it to take a look at the prep video on the CND.com website, they show it all very well...

Why are you using so many different products from so many different manufacturers? Star, NSI,The Edge and now you want to add CND to the mixture.

I think you should do some further training (Maybe a conversion course) with ONE brand and then stick to it.

It really does not make sense to use all these 'cherry picked' prodcts and then to expect trouble-free and reliable results ... nor can anyone really help you when there is such a diverstiy of brands ... plus you are not helping yourself either.

Systems work best when they are made to work together ... it makes sense.

CND do a fantastic conversion class and all the products that you need are included in the price in the kit so that you are using ONE system that has been designed to work the best when used together. 0845 210 6060 is the number to call for training near you.

the reason why im using different products is we trained with salonsystem at college (that was over a year ago) and because i've only just started being a self employed nail technician im trying to build up my products, as you know its not cheap so i cant buy everything straight away and its gone pretty quiet for me at the moment so that doesnt help either !!
i am thinking of using cnd instead !! im on there website now and to be quite honest im baffled lol can you buy products off there ? i've just registered and i cant see like " my basket " or anything like that ....
But is it worth changing to cnd ? which is best to work with ?
I may give cnd a call because my training at college was rubbish .. our tutor left and we got a new tutor not even half way through the course and we didnt even get set lesson plans.

Hi Hun

I noticed from you posts that you seem to be using a fair range of different brands during ur service, I`ve heard you say u use NSI, Edge, Star nails and now you say you may buy some srubfresh. My advice for you in the long term would be to train with a reputable brand, learn to use the products correctly, get to know the products as you are clearly unhappy with the college training you have already received as you have said in your other post, I think further education will really boost ur confidence and maximize your potential in every area. xxx

You cannot go wrong with either CND education or CND products. Both are wonderful.

I know it is difficult getting all the things you need but you might as well get it right and then you can stop worrying and if you have any problems, you can go back to the company who will do everything they can to help ... but no one can help when you are using so many different things.

Everything you need to do CND enhancements correctly is contained in the kit you get included in your CND conversion course and at a special and reasonable price for the new user. You will not regret the deciison to partner with CND.

At only 19 you need to be in good hands and spend your money wisely.

CND have a wonderful award winning trainer in the Manchester area called Julia Moran. She is a warm and very genuine person and will get you off to a great start with CND.

Julia is a member here on the site and you can pm her directly BUT the correct route is for you to ring Sweet Squared (the home of CND in the UK) and put all your questions to them. They will explain everything you need to know re the cost, the trainer, the kit, and the course. 08452106060 They do all the booking for the CND trainers.

When she comes in you will have to file away the lifting and re-prep making sure you have removed all the non living skin from her nail plate...and removed the residue of any cuticle remover you have used. Leaving even the smallest bit of lifting on the nail will just create more lifting. Then reapply your product making sure that zone 3 is thin and flush to the nail but not touching any skin...It does sound like a prep problem to me.

CND only sell their L&P or gel to those who have done their training so if you have never bought form them or done training, you will not have a customer number which you need to register ... whew ... CALL them and they will explain.

CND protect thier professional partners by NOT selling to the untrained person and they protect the reputation of their CND pro nail techs by inisiting on training before you can purchase the pro products. It's not really confusing, but it is a profesional approach that most other brands do not take ... they prefer to sell to anyone rather than to protect our industry.

Brillient news, Gemma, I'm so happy for you.

I know it will be a fab introduction for you to see how professional this industry can be when you partner with good people and a world reknowned brand of products. I know you will be more than pleased by the end of the day.
