Hi all this is the frist time i have applyed gel to my own nails and I was well impressed so wanted to show you all, I have added some purple hearts into the gel .

These are lovely.. haven't you got long nail beds?? I'm jealous.

Really nice

I will just say 2 words .... surface refinement. Don't be so easily satisfied --- these nails would be improved 100 times over if you spent 10 minutes filing so that the surface is smooth and perfect ... that little extra effort would make all the difference. The basics are there.

The whites are also quite patchy and could be more even in tone.

And you should be impressed. I could not have done that on myself which is why I always paid to have it done for me, lol.

You are fortunate to have such honest and helpful critique from geeg. I agree about the surface refinement as it is quite evident in the picture. Also, although there is no barrel shot, the free edge looks to be a bit too thick.

re the surface refinement... I'll tell you a little story :wink2:

When I did my L+P conversion with Gigi in April I'd finished the nails (or so I thought lol) and we noticed a minor 'bump' in zone 3 of Sassy's thumb on one hand, we were about to take pics and I said "oh, that'll do" and Geeg said "no, that'll not 'do' missus!"
We refined the zone 3 some more, just 20 seconds worth of buffing, then shining, and the look of the zone 3 had changed dramatically... it's worth spending a few extra minutes making sure that you have a perfect finish, it changes the look of the enhancements a lot :green:

I learnt from that day and I never think "that'll do" anymore

Along the lines of what you said Sandi, I can add to that. When I did my refresher course a few months back, I thought I had completed my buffing and refining. There were a few really minor bumbs and dips and I said to my tutor, "Do I really have to get those out?" Her incredulous reply? "Of course you do!" It did not take more than a minute. Won't forget it.

Thanks all for your comments .I am saving to do the creative gel course so I thought a little practice before the course wont hurt . cant wait to do the course just seems like it will take me forever to save but they do say the best things come to those who wait lol.
