Hi Everyone,

Ive just started working 4 days a week in a salon (self employed) and Ive had so many people wanting french manicures and pedicures. Im fine with the french pedi's but the manicures
I get myself in such a flap. The clients always seem happy with the results and make second bookings but its getting to the stage where im dreading the next one. I love the manicure part but when it comes to the whites my hand starts shaking.

How do you guys do yours so perfectly????

I put the white on and then tidy up with a flat tipped brush dipped in acetone to give perfect smile lines and it works really well, im no professional but saw this tip somewhere and it's great especially when im doing my right hand and my lines are a bit squiff. HTH

Hi, I think its just a case of practise makes perfect! Im not so keen on doing the french polish on fingers, but I think I just get on with it! The idea about a brush dipped in polsih remover is a good one to get the smiles perfect. I havent tried this, but I may well try it soon! xx

I draw the line with a nail art brush and then fill the rest in after because its so much easier to control the smaller amount of paint first xx

Hi,
Thank you for the video......definately will make it easier to do French Manicure now. I have no trouble doing French Manicure with Gel, but didn't like to do it with polish until now.

Just watched the video too, it is a good vid. I think I may find it easier to do french polishes now! Thanks xx

I took a tip from NailZoo and make sure I flatten out my polish brush first - FABULOUS IDEA CARL! It makes a huge difference in application and it goes on so flawlessly (with practice).

Hi there again just found where I saw this being done - here is the link YouTube - Apply a French Manicure Tip. HTH
Thank u so much for taking the time to find that link. FAB will def give it a go, any tips on size of brush to buy?
Thanx lulubell, i've been dreading my first salon french mani, i'll get practising

This is how i do my french mani's.

I find it easiest to use an eyeshadow brush. I noticed the lady in the video was using a brush that went straight across but i prefer one with a slight curve. (I think i got mine from Boots!)

hth  x

Hi there the brush I use is one I had in a kit a while ago not sure about number size but it's just over a 1/4 inch in size. Glad you found the vid helpful, I couldn't do a french manicure at all until I found this.

Me too and now I don't worry about doing a french manicure now, they used to give me nightmares. I go north to south rather than sweeping my brush and I get great results, saying that everyone has their own way.

My advice would be just go for it, try not to think about it too much and you will be fine. :)

try doing half to the middle of the nail and then again the other side, from corner to centre

holding the brush more side on helps also, although when im feeling rather ocd about french polish a pointed cotton bud well soaked in remover and dabbed off onto kitchen towel works wonders

- slow and steady helps my shakes, im hypoglycemic so its a nightmare for me lol

hope this helps xx

Thanx guys for all of your tips, will get practising on my willing guinea pigs which i have picked up from Ruths guineapigs.co.uk site. :)

I am just jumpin in her hope you don't mind but I use essie for the white but find it doesn't go on well.
What french manicure polish do you use??

Good video.. I have always been shown to use base, pink, then top coat. Would this still look good if client wanted a colour on tip then going over the top with a pale pink??

Hi i use opi Alpine Snow for the tip and Privacy Please for the pink. I tried Coney Island as a peachy alternative but found that it always paints streaky.
My tutor uses a white opi pen to do her tip, but i've never seen one of these :!:
