Hi

Now I know there have been plenty of threads posted about this very topic but I am just so frustrated with myself that I need to vent my annoyance!!!!

I have been qualified (CND L&P) since December and as I work full time as well as have a family I only have the time to nails at weekends ... at the moment I have just 6 regulars ( all family) which I do 3 each weekend.

Anyway my problem is my timing... its still after all this time taking me 2 hours for my infills ( usually slightly less fro full set)which is stopping me from going out and advertising myself... I even have people, who have seen the nails I have done asking for me to do a set and I turn tham down because of my lack of confidence... and its all because of this timimg thing.

I have my nails done every 2 weeks and when i asked my tech who ive been going to for years how I can cut my timing she said the first thing to get rid of is the cuticle work. Now she has never done this with me and I raised it with her after my training and she said that its a waste of time esp on ladies that have their nails done all the time as the buffing action would remove any cuticle anyway ...

Firstly, is this true and secondly has anyone else been in this position ,how did they get out of it and any tips on speeding up the process????

Sorry for the lenght of the post but I feel I need to scream right now!!

I thank you!

By the way I get very very little lifting on my nails .....

Hi ,my timings used to get me down , used to take me 3 hours to do a set now I seem to of got it down to 2.The only things I do different now are, I use a uv gel top coat and cure under a lamp instead of buffing to a shine,I sculpt instead of tip,and I dont keep going back to what Ive already done, trying to look for faults.

I know there has been aa lot of threads on here about timings, and people say you shouldnt worry, but there are clients out there that dont want to sit round for 2-3 hours for a set.I lost a client due to me being too slow and it hurt when I found out she d said that.

As for the not doing the cuticle work , I d be interested in others answers , as I ve had clients come to me from other nail techs , saying ..aw ..they didnt do cuticle work.

I would like to know what she is doing to your nails if she isn't doing any cuticle work?
2hrs is good for a new tech I think. When you say infills are you just replacing the pink or rebalancing the whole nail Pink and White?
What is your routine for an infill?

Just to add, have you given your educator a ring to ask for advice? They will be able to help you decide whether you may need a 121 or skill building (not sure how it works with CND). I would give them a call babes just to see what they think

Cuticle work doesnt take that long...

Which step takes you the longest? Analyze all your steps and look for small things you can do to cut time.

For me it was filing at first because I was scared to hurt the client so I would go REALLY slow...lol.

Skipping the PREP may save time in application but it adds time in filing when they come back in with lifting, so not really worth it.

For the timing, working on more people day in and day out cuts down on your time, 2 hours is very reasonable for a beginer. Another thing that may help is talk to their hands! Have a few of the people you do now bring a book, MP3 player, or something to do while you do their nails so you do not talk to them at all. If this shaves a significant amount of time off your service you will know you need to talk to their hands more while you work ;) good luck!

Hey hun don't fret too much you can only get better as they say practise practise practise.
I still take 2 hours but most people dont bother cause they chat and get time off work lol

Keep your chin up and dont worry too much that only makes it worse

Im still taking nearly 3 hrs to do a full set and its really getting to me aswell. i think i file to slow as im scared of any friction heat,i do move my file around like i was taught bit iv got it into my head that i could do it to them.Talking is another problem lol... So i think 2hrs for you is good at this stage if you are giving them a good set of nails then they will come back! good luck xx

I think the best thing to do is to bite the bullet so to speak and start booking in clients, as you say your lifting is minimal and others have said 2 hours is pretty good timing for a beginner. The only way you are going to speed up is by doing more clients. Why not think about doing Popits training so that you can do a faster service for those clients that have minimal time. hth's
