Hi there - sorry to be so needy!

I have had a client book in for a set of acrylics but the prob is she has gel nails needing to be removed.

I am obviously trained in acrylics but not gel so i`m not sure of the process of gel removal? can anyone help?

I heard some geeks on here on about buffing off the gel I normally soak off with acrylic.

Thanks

It depends on whether it is a buff off or soak off gel, can you find out what gel it is ?

There are two different types of gel.. buff off and soak off.

The soak off kind can be removed the same as acrylic.. just buff a layer off and immerse in acetone and scrape off.

If it's a buff off gel, you will need to file it off.. maybe start with a 100 grit and then go to a 240 as you get nearer the natural nail.

If your client doesn't know which gel she has, I'd ask where she had them done and ring the salon and ask what system was used.. if that doesn't work, just try soaking one nail and you'll know in about one minute if it's a soak off or not.

Be careful if you do decide to buff off that you don't stay in the one place on the nails for long.. keep your file moving around different areas of the nail to avoid any heat friction.

Hope I've explained that ok:hug:
