right for starters - im not the be all and end all, and i dont profess to be either, but why is it, that gmg are EXPECTED to get it right everytime, im asking this cos i certainly dont, and when things are going wrong in my life, it a reflects in the nails, ive just recently had probs at work, but thats all sorted now, as is the nails, but i just wonder how many other techs suffer at the hands of "the NAIL " i

im just hitting the add key cos its nw3 annoying me that i cant just hit any key

hi peter pan have you had some wino :)? Think I may have missed the point here

Ok Glynis, less posting when too tired to think eh?!

So your saying ...
"even the best of us have off days, and when life around is bad, so is our work"

I would agree with this, no matter how trained, qualified or perfect we often are, we're still only human and never "perfect"
AND when your mind's not on the job, your work suffers...

I agree, we all have off days and often what is happening in our lives can affect our work as in any profession.

Hope it's all sorted now xxx:hug:

What you on about chuck?

I've seen first hand how much stress you put yourself under to make great nails & no-one could say your not amazing!

Just ignore people who get you down even the worlds best can have off days x

Hey Glynis, you are a fab nail technician and do great work. None of us are perfect and we can all be prone to 'off' days but don't you put yourself down. You didn't achieve that GM status without passion, dedication, talent and hard work.

Your clients and your boss are lucky to have you and I am sure they appreciate you! xx:hug:

I hear what you are all saying here....and yes, of course, we are only human, but we are also professionals.
Probably most of us are also self employed, therefore you just cannot afford to have a 'off 'day.
When you are having one, it is paramount that the client never knows lol!!!

Its the old adage, that your house has burned down, hubby has left you and the dogs died, but you walk into your first client and its 'SHOWTIME'.

Yes, maybe you will be a bit slower, and have to do more work to perfect those nails than you would like, but the client still leaves with the standard she is used too.

I am sure most of us have had days when the last place we want to be is the salon, due to personal crisis, but as I said before if we are self employed we have no choice, we put on our best smile and grit our teeth and get through it.

Sorry if I am teaching my grandmother to suck eggs here, but I felt it needed said.

I am sure we all are professional in front of our clients/students, and isn't it good that we have this site to maybe offload and sound off about the days when we are just human!!:)

I never offload to my client when I am down or having an off day and I think it goes without saying that we shouldn't.:)

Of course WE know Chris, as do all the other posters here, but there are a lot of newbie geeks here on site, who possibly need their eyes opened to the harsh realities of working with the public! I felt this could be the ideal thread to bring it up.

I visit a lot of Salons in my current role, and the number 1 problem I hear about is staff, and how they bring their problems to work with them.
From tears and tantrums over boyfriends and believe it or not, detailing how much they had to drink to clients to explain their hungover appearance!!!

Maybe we don't always get it right, but we don't want to get it totally wrong either.

I totally agree with you, I have had to paint on my smile in front of my clients these last few weeks since the loss of my mum, yes admittedly I've worked a little slower but it it gives my clients extra time to chat to me about their life and it gives me something else to focus on.
