Hi All

After attending my first nail/beauty show yesterday I knew I had found my ideal career.

This year has seen some major changes for me and now I know that this industry is for me.

I have a few more CND courses to go, I have a room in a dressers opening on the 17th of May.

I have worked sooooo hard to get all of this in place and it hasnt been easy, Im not expecting miracles but am expecting the hard graft to continue.

I would like to hear some of your stories about the beginning of your careers,

Did you jump in at the deep end like me or did you gradually build up and move on in small steps????

Id also like to thank everyone here who has helped me along the way so far ...

Thankyoooooooo

Champs

I did my foundation course, Spa mani/pedi all at the same time, Brisa and Tantrick spray tanning, 6 months later. I have done a couple of 121s since then.

hi champs
i have been doing nails since 1999 but only did the odd few here and there,
i started doing mobile beauty therapy in november and all my clients wanted nail extentions so i thought i would re train in nails so went on 3 more nail courses with ezflow and also did a gel course,
would love to have my own salon one day wish you all the best in your nail salon

I'm not a nail geek, but I have building up to what I am doing now for the past 11 years. I have an EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS husband who saw that I wanted to dive straight in and get a premises but stopped me. so glad he did, as I am now more than ready and have got more experience, infact I shudder to think what I would have been like if I had taken a place on straight away.

Well thats exactly whats happened.... at least its only a room.

My husband is the opposite hes pushing me all they way, but at least i dont have to earn an income from it so i have no financial headache whereby i have to earn x amount per month, thats made things a bit easier.

Keep em coming its so good to hear other peoples stories.

If you feel ready to go for it then do! I began (only last year) by renting a room above a alon and I am now about to take over a slighter larger place this time all on my own and I can't wait.

I have loved every minute of this journey and I don't regret a thing. Yes, I could have waited but I know I would have become bored. It's hard work but totally worth it.:)

Anyone else want to share their start up stories, I would be very interested to hear them.

Thx

i started cos i had been buying diy kits from boots for years to do on myself after i had my nails done in a salon and they were pants and i thought i can do better
so i enroled in essential nails to study at home as this was right for me

i actually did a nail technician course at my local college back in 2001 along with a nail art and manicure course....but the whole thing was a bit naff to be honest, i didnt even know what type of system i would be taught till i got there !!! ( it was fibreglass but my fault for not asking ) ...i only did about 4-5 sets and they were all just breaking and lifting etc , i had no support and i know now that the products we were taught with were naff too....so i gave up ! and had 2 more kids and got married.:lol:
but i still always wanted to do nails so when my little girl was 3 months old in 2006, i decided that i was gonna do a proper course and went on a CND foundation course and it was brill, i learnt sooo much compared to the other one.I practiced on friends and family for nearly a year before i set up my business in 2007, the reason i went mobile instead of renting a space or getting a salon was i wanted to be able to be more flexible with my hours while my kids were growing up and had to work around my hubbys continental shifts.
In my opinion i have done it the hard way but it is starting to pay off now, i decided to do a conversion course with Ezflow last year after setting up and have now done loads of courses and feel alot more confident.I really didnt realsie just how much there was to learn but now i have the education bug  which is a good thing, even in the last 2-3 months my clients have seen a difference in the services i provide and i have had 4 new clients book this week alone ...
I wanted to build things up slowly and thats what im doing and am happy at the way things are going for me this last year.
Thats my little story of how i became to setting up my mobile business, sorry if ive rambled !!
I think youve been given a very good opportunity and if i had been offered the same kind of thing and didnt have kids then i would have said yes aswell.....
Im sure you will do great and good luck !!:)
