and if so, how long was it before you were able to work again? I'm still on painkillers and strapped up like you wouldn't believe but I have a school pamper evening on 10th march to do calgel demos and hand & arm massage but not sure what I'm going to be able to do.
I work mobile and am obviously not driving at the moment - planning some advertising for April with offers for May but my previous plans are now on hold.
sorry this has been a bit all over the place but i don't think my brain's working quite right yet!

I am currently into my 4th week off with a broken ankle. I was told 6 weeks in a pot and then maybe back 4 weeks after that. My consultant said expect 12 weeks in total for a broken bone to fully heal. You need to speak to your consultant or fracture clinic and they will give you all the relevant info. Mine is probably longer as I have had surgery and because of standing.

I would say expect 6 weeks minimum.

P.s. I am actually going back to work tomorrow! I'll just sit and supervise with my foot up!

Which bone is it that you have broken? My hubby broke his humerus last year so can give you his recovery timeline, if you want it!

I've broken my radius (a colles fracture) and also my ulna (but not so seriously). They reduced the fracture in a&e but didn't get it lined up quite right and the angle of rotation was off so I went in for a plate fitting a week later (undeer general anaesthetic) and am now bandaged up like the proverbial mummy! I get the bandages off next wednesday and they'll be replaced with a splint and then physio but I don't think they'll give me any more info until then. I've already been told "no heavy lifting" for 3 months and returning to driving is anything from 6 weeks to 4 months!
I really don't want to cancel my table at the pamper evening so I'm going to have to start practicing on people asap to see if I can do at least a single calgel nail!

Hmmm thats the lower arm,my son broke his lower arm a few years ago and was fine after 4 weeks, but everyone heals at different rates.I would say once you're out of plaster start off lightly, dont jump in at the deep end.

A couple of years ago I smashed my humerous and head of humerous too,had to have surgery and was off work for 3 and a half months.I went back to work and did find it tough going for some time.Wasn't allowed to do massage for a year. However that is a different break altogether.Be guided by your specialist and hope you get better soon.I know it's frustrating as hell.I thought I would never work again, but im here to tell the tale lol:hug:

when I broke my ulna my recovery time was 6 weeks but I had a bad break :irked:

i broke my humourous right in at the joint of my shoulder , i wasnt in plaster though just a sling but i deffo couldnt do anything for the first 2 wks.. after that i managed to use my hand of the broken arm to hold the clients hand and file with my other arm ... but i was only doing a few clients a week not loads otherwise it would have been really sore xx
