Hi,

I sprayed a client yest with a sample sudo tan, ultra dark, colur guide was minimal but tan seemed to be even last night, although i did use more solution than the necessary 50 mils, prob over compensating for the lack of instant colour. Anyway, she has rang me this morn saying her hands, knees, feet are orange  and the rest of her is till really pale????? OMG 1st tan that has gone wrong!!!!! I used barrier cream on the above mentioned dry areas!! I am going back to re-spray her, am planning on using my usual LA Tan 12%, and putting vaseline on the hands etc, shud this rectify the prob? Client liked the LA Tan but wanted to go darker for a night out, hence trying the different solution. Confidence knocked ow, big time!!!

HI

Is she on anti biotics? As you know the tan reacts with the bacteria on the skin and if she is taking anti bio's then that could be it?

What did she prep herself with hon?

is she possibly pregnant ? the tan not taking sometimes has been known to happen due to a hormonal imbalance early on in pregnancy hth

Well, she hadnt washed the colour guide of when she rang me, I didnt ask her if she had as i presumed she would have done as i always explain the may be some uneven coverage before washing the guide off and she has had tans from me before. Anyway I went anyway and the tan looked ok maybe not very dark but i re-sprayed her anyway and the end result was fine. Her hands did look slightly overloaded with DHA tho , and was also some on fingertips, I did wipe palms after tanning. She said she had just used a body wash to prep earlier on in the day before tanning, didnt know the brand she had used but it wasnt Dove or imperial leather.

The tning to remember with tanning is that it can be very much dependant upon your clients preparation. Showering with many off the shelf gels etc can affect your spray tan as most of them contain oil of some description which will act as a barrier.

It would be advisable for you to retail both an exfolitating wash and post tan moisturiser supplied by your tanning supplier (if need be cost it into the price of your tan), that way you have more chance of their skin being prepared correctly.
