Hi,

I have had a quick look through the forums and notice that there are a few posts about Essential Nails.

I recently started a course (in May) and I am not very happy with the course, I found the dvd unclear and I feel that the course was definately not as it had been described. I pay monthly for this course and have barely touched the kit, so I sent a complaint to Essential Nails.

They have responded saying that as it has passed 30 days I can not send the kit back, I have read their terms and conditions and it does state that you can send the kit back but it is down to their discretion, so I have sent another email asking them to consider taking the kit back as I will have paid £180.00 and barely touched the kit (I have litterally used a few nails). Not heard anything from them in a week.

I just wondered if anyone has had a similiar experience? Or had any dealing with Essential Nails?

Thanks

My advise is to keep this between you and EN .. rather than as a question on the site. Thanks. Moderation

Ok thank you for the help but I just wondered what people's opinions were on Essential Nails in general and how they found the course?

I have completed 3 of their courses, acrylic, gel & airbrushed nails, and i found them to be really good. If i ever had a question i just telephoned them and got help and advice over the phone. It all comes with practise. Have recently done a day course in Windsor which i did find useless, but because i had previously done EN it gave me more of an understanding. Now i have the background hopefully in the future i would like to train with Creative Nail Design or similar!

I have completed 2 of there courses the gel and the maintenance one and i loved both the dvd was great very clear and imformative as was sarah she was always the end of a phone with help and advice when i needed it:green:

What exactly was unclear on your dvd???

I have done 2 courses and im on my 3rd course with EN I found the dvd's easy to follow and Sarah to be very helpful if I ever needed to contact her.
Maybe you just need to call Sarah for a bit of clarification of what your not sure of, she is very easy to approach, and they are always willing to help. Hope you sort your problems out xxx

I found essential nails reall helpful, I have done 3 courses with them and found the DVD very helpful and complementary to the theory. I purchased my second course and left it for a number of years before I decided to continue with the course and it was so easy to get back into the swing of thing without any hassle. If this is your first time doing nails I would suggest that you persevere, call Sarah, and play the DVD over and over again. I did that and found that the more I called Sarah the more my confidence built. Hope this is helpful

I think EN courses are A WAY to get a toe in the industry. A taster which will maybe affirm that nails is something you want to do.

I do not feel they prepare anyone sufficiently on their own to go into the industry and make money.

There is no comparison to learning with an educator of a high quality.

Used as a stepping stone to higher education they can serve a certain purpose. Most all who take the EN courses go on to a different learning environment if they are really interested in getting to the next level..

Hi Shadow08, I am currently learning acrylic nails with Essential Nails. When you first open the pack it may seem a little daunting, but like the girls said the support is there and if you get your head into it you will enjoy it if nails is your thing.
I think Essential Nails is a really great way of learning, it fits in brilliant with my full time job and family. It allows those people who haven't got the time or funds to attend courses or colleges. You can recieve a certificate and apply for your insurance which allows you to get out into the industry.

We all have to learn one way or another, and I think if you work hard enough and study hard it will pay off.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do next x

Thanks very much for your opinions, it seems as if everyone who has taken the course has not had problems.

The dvd does not cover all the skills that I feel I would need to practice this on real people, this is only my opinion and whilst it has worked for other people it has not worked for me. I dont want to slate the company at all, they have been very friendly and helpful but I just wondered if anyone else had decided they would like a refund and how they got on with the company.

Many thanks for your help.

- Added: Just to let you know I have now heard back from Essential Nails and I am happy with the outcome of the emails. They were very friendly and understanding. I am going to take a course at my local college, as i think this would be a better way of learning for me.
